Default LRP 28 or Mach 454

Alright. I know some of you told me to just stick with the 454, but here is the thing. I part the LRP on ebay, so I have one sitting here. And I have the 454 sitting here. Cost is within $10. Which would you put in your XXL (or LST2? etc).
Another thought. I have the HT pipe, or my 086 pipe. 086, right?
My STS engine is either shot, or I will shoot it! I just don't want to deal with it anymore!

The 454 is an LRP spec2. The new LRP that everyone likes is the spec3. The spec3 has more power but both are good motors. I think you will be happy with the 454.

I have the spec 3. How positive are you on the spec 2 and 454 being the same?

the LRP spec 3 is rated at 38,500 rpm, 3.81 hp 8+1 ports while the 454 is rated at 36,000 rpm's 3.5 hp and 7+1 ports. The spec 2 is rated at 36,000 rpm, 3.5hp and 7+1 ports. Exactly the same as teh 454.

So which carb/head/backplate is better? I guess really the carb is all that matters.. I do hate the orange head though!

So the carb is where it gets its extra rpm's from. Also looking at the specs it says the number of ports are different? I use the LRP with the Sportwerks v2 carb. Same carb as the truggy version. SH does have some good carbs.

The specs listing they have for these engines is absolutely terrible....first thing is the HP rating is way out to lunch, second thing is they are not 8 port engines, nor are they 7 port engines....they are in fact only 6 port engines, they have 2 extra bypass ports but they are not intake ports...when we refer to port count we are talking about the intake ports and intake ports only...a LRP Spec 3 and a Losi 454 only have 6 intake ports.... I honestly wouldn't worry too much about the differences in specs as the specs listed are numbers rattled off by the marketing team

Is the 454 a direct bolt in replacement for a aftershock? O hear a lot about it and wonder how it would run out over the .26SS

Oh, andI have the same prob with my LRP carb... I threw the 28 in my XXL. But I still have high idle. Maybe you will have better luck.
Oh, and I was selling the carb for $24, but it was too low because I had three and they only lasted a day on eBay

I would say go with the LRP, I saw a 445 XXL run and expected it to be better...
