Don't think nails would last very long
Use some Allen keys & cut to Size with a Dremel (The crap ones that come with the Truck work Great ) Piano wire will work as well.....

Try using an old drill bit the same diameter, cut it to length with a dremel.

Drill bit will work....but they're Brittle and Snap Easy.....plus they don't have the Flat spot on them for the Grub/set screw

Try these, I would be suprised if you can break them...

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-hop...th=595_451_632

It will take you about 2 weeks to get them probably, but they should cut down your rotational mass a good bit, which will free up some horse power so you can concentrate on breaking something else

I cannot confirm nor deny actually having these parts myself,..
that is until after I open a huge can of Whooop Azz on Bigblock454's XXL[sm=punching.gif]

I used to break axle pins on my LST1 often - until I got some 3/32 piano wire and New Era 23mm hexes. Never broke one after that upgrade. The piano wire is stronger than the stock pins, and the design on the New Era hexes spreads out the pressure on the pins slightly better.

Problem is if you race you want 17mm hexes, which is one of the best reasons to upgrade to the LST2 axles. Tire and wheel choice gets pretty big once you go 17.
