quick question
Quick question from the new guy, I recently picked up an aftershock from the local hobby shop for 250. (on sale!!)Anyways ive been on here and noticed everyone saying the stock "sport" pipe reduces the power on it pretty decently. So today i just won a bid for an XXL losi tuned HT pipe. Then i got to thinking, is this even the right pipe that everyone is putting on?
Ok so a bit about me, im in socal, have always loved R/c's. I started when i was 17 with an elec rustler, then i moved on to a trx.15 tmax, then onto a hpi rs4, then to a bolink legends series. NOW on to the aftershock. So far nothing to bad has gone wrong except for an A arm that the curb ate.
Hope to gain some good know how from this site.

RE: quick question
HOLY CRAP, i didnt think a simple pipe would do so much. Its hard to keep the front wheels on the ground when the truck hooks up. I took it to a parking lot today and as soon as it hit second gear the tires would baloon up and it would just lay rubber. Nothing like having a monster truck that is really a drifter!

RE: quick question
Exactly A few other things you'll want to change on the truck is the stock clutch shoes. Switch to alum ones [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/10016]Like these[/link]. Changing the shoes out will help get even more power out of the M26ss engine. Some other mods you'll want to look into include changing out the stock motor brace (cant find a link to it anywhere?!?!) and maybe the throttle/brake linkage. Those few mods should help you get thru a good bashing season with out any major issues

RE: quick question
Well, I was just a bit upset last night. It's actually a great pipe and if you get a chance get at least one extra. They make a special hanger wire thatis supposed to remedy the trouble area.

Now what is the diff between that linkage and what came stock, im assuming that for one there is no servo saver, and two its more adjuster friendly from the looks of it. Is that all?

RE: quick question
The LST2 linkage gives you alot better feel over..... you know what? i cant even say that in all truth because i never even used the stock linkage. First thing i did when i took the truck out of the box was change the linkage to the LST2's lol

RE: quick question
The stock linkage uses the flex in the servo saver to work the brakes....to get decent braking, you're basically binding the servo, which will burn it out......learned this the bad way......the LST2 linkage kit and a new Futaba 3004 servo fixed that right up....now I have a precise throttle, and strong, proportional brakes....

RE: quick question
iexion, good point. Ill be getting the linkage this week sometime. I have another question as well. I noticed last time i went out and messed around in the parking lot that the front tires dont really spin....... what i mean by this is it seems like the 4x4 system is set up for 90% power to the rear and 10% (if im lucky) in the front. No if i remember correctly my old tmax the fronts and the rears were equil. Is there something slipping that i should check out? IF so could you give me a detailed description of where to check on the car. Im not to familure with trannys, diffs, etc,
Thanks

RE: quick question
check and make sure all the grub screws are tight in the fromt drive line if any are loose they will have a flat spot to tighten against on the shaft also check the front diff out drive cup pins ...I found two broke Saturday if this is hard to find check here http://www.losi.com/ProdInfo/Files/L...plodedView.pdf all metal to metal screws must be loc-tite ... part numbers to check are a6250,b3505,and b3540 are the outdrive cup pins... there is also pins in the tranny that can break

RE: quick question
Yeah like Full Maxx said. Pretty much follow your front diff to you transmission and check everything ( Diff >> first Joint link >> shaft >> 2nd link to trans ) Every so often one of my drive lines (in some cases both front and rear) goes loose and 99% of the time one of the small screws just came out. But the truck SHOULD be 4WD at all times.
But these do come out time to time. It is a good idea to use loc-tite on those screws.

RE: quick question
Well a bit of an update, i ordered some yellow springs from the LHS as well as the brake linkage for the lst2. Got them installed and decided i was going to check out my 4x4 issue. As im sitting there wondering what is missing from the picture in front of me i decided to get up and grab a soda, on the way to the kitchen i step on what seems to be a grub screw. So i figure sweet found the problem and was able to even get the screw back..... NOTTTTT front right axal is gone! Either way i got it running great awsome brakes now (thanks ) and even with 2x4 i had a blast. Until the last little bit where i blew the side out of my tire out. Ill post some pics when i get home from work.
