1/5 Scale Wheels & Tires on XXL
I just grabbed a set of 1/5 scale rear Bow-Ties on Desperados, I'm having to mod the HPI adapters to work on the XXL though. First I had to drill the center out to allow the axle to go through it, hopefully I didn't just destroy these adapters for nothing, now I'm having to lengthen and widen the slot for the axle pin. If I destroy these adapters, I'll grab the 23mm ones and wrap them.<div></div><div>http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ps7397784a.jpg</div><div>http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ps8a932e17.jpg</div><div>http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ps19f66466.jpg</div><div>http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...0-03170455.jpg</div><div></div><div>What do you guys think?</div>

Nice job, looks sweet! Can we get a pic or 2 of the adapter mounted but without tires? Really curious about the fit of the adapter over the axle.

Can u elaborate what you did?i just got lst2 from a trade and I got some spare Baja wheels/tires.

The adapters are from the Savage Baja Flux which have a smaller diameter stub axle. This requires drilling the center out to the LST 8mm diameter. Sounds like the LST hex pin is a larger diameter. Another option is wrapping 23mm with aluminum tape (used for sealing duct work) to bring them up to 24mm.

oh ok..so u just drilled the part where the pin goes..i think second option would wear out easily.

Sorry I haven't updated this, I'm moving to England and my house is getting packed tomorrow. I decided to scrap the Savage adapters (I'll try them later), and I found a set of the Proline 23mm hexes. The HPI ones were too much of a PITA, it's damn near impossible to find washers that'll fit over the stub axle and in the adapter. It was way easier to use the 23mm, I wrapped them with some aluminum tape to fill the gap, I haven't had a chance to run them. It'll be about 2 months before I even see it (let alone drive it), I've got a few things to fix on it and I'll be able to run it. I weighed the Bow-Ties and my stock ones, and the weight difference wasn't that big, I lost my notes so I'll have to reweigh them.
