Status: offline 		Yes i have seen that video many times ...thats one of the reasons i purchased this plane in the first place!
unfortunately that is the only version out there...and Enzo is kmp professional test pilot !...this is the only kmp T-28 out there  with video evidence
the rest are esm versions  or other manufactures...I wonder why that is?.....just saying.
oh we have about 400ft of grass runway at our field manicured fairly short and level...i hope this is enough room for this plane to rotate

Status: offline 		  I had a KMP T-28 last year that flew great. I lost it due to a Hitec radio issue I had three good flights with it before it locked out. I fly Futaba now.

The plane will stay on the ground until you want it to take off. Have no fear of it it is a nice thing. It tracked straight down the run way I had no problems. Use a metal wheel on the nose gear, my robart plastic wheel cracked on the second flight. The runway is bumpy grass where I fly. I added a one inch block under the nose gear they were too low to the ground. My 20x12 three bladed prop would not clear the ground with out the added block plus the plane looked like it was going down hill with out the block. This was on the older one piece wing version. It was nice you could proceed to take off with the engine at full power until it was up to speed with out worry of the plane trying to lift off by it's self. I would give a little elevator after going full power on the ground and it picked right up. I was using a BME 50 cc classic engine with a custom motor mount I made from aluminum. The run way at our field is 600 feet long and I started my take off at the start. I used a little more than half the runway to take off for the first flight. If you use about 400 feet and not try to rush take off on your first flight you will be fine. After you get a feel for the plane you will be ok and I am sure you will use less runway for your next flight. I may have needed a 22x10 prop it might have been better for my engine but I did not have the ground clearance. I would not use a enging smaller than a 50cc with this plane. Once your in the air it fly's nice, it would fly fast and you could slow it down too. It was a gentle flyer with graceful turns and the 15mph wind that day did not affect it. The plane was a little fast on landing with out flaps. A little better with to land with the flaps. I purchased another one to replace the one I lost but I sold it to a guy who needed a wing two weeks ago. I might buy the new version after I finish my Sea Fury. Another plus with the 50cc engine you do not need nose weight I used my two receiver packs for balance by moving them about a inch behind the fuel tank. They were two 4000mah 2 cell lipos.

Status: offline 		hey thanks for the info... i have a 55 aerovate I was going to use ....but am going to install an asp 400...roughly 64cc 5 cylinder radial.....this is about a 6lbs engine with the keleo exhaust ring it fits nicely in the cowl ....cool sounding engine ..thats why i am using it..i know its over kill for the size of the plane but i am reinforcing the nose gear.....if you did not have to use any weight with your 50cc gaser...and i know my engine is heavier do you think i am going to have to put weight in the tail?....i don't want to do that ...what do you think?...heres a pic of the engine

Status: offline 		I did not use the tail hook or add the extra servo in the rear of the plane. I used a larger air tank just for extra air pressure it was over kill. I think if you used the tail hook option and extra servo for the tail hook you would have a little extra weight in the tail.  I had my air tank on the side and not ran down the middle of the servo tray. I made sure the middle was open that way I could use Velcro battery straps and the two 4000mah 2 cell lipos and voltage regulator could move almost any where by sliding the battery's forward and back. I wanted them in the center of the plane. I had to take the wing off to check the balance a couple of times to finally slide the battery's to the forward to the right spot. I then marked the balance point for the battery's with a permanent marker so I could just install them after they were recharged. In my case I was one inch from the fuel tank. I used a 2000mah NIMH 4.8 volt battery for the engine's ignition it was on top of the fuel tank.  I will weigh my engine, ignition and 2000mah 4.8 volt battery tomorrow to get a weight for you.

Status: offline 		hey guys ...here's a pic of the finished plane...she looks great ...but with the engine that has been installed ...asp 400 5 cylinder radial has me a bit concerned.. she comes in around 26lbs total weight!

I hope you reinforced that nose wheel set up extremely heavy duty.
I just picked up one of these planes from a guy that landed it kind of hard
and the end result was a torn out front gear which pretty much destroyed that 1/2"
thick plywood floor it gets mounted to.
This plane had a much lighter engine up front and a little over a pound of nose weight.
Don't think it could have weighed more than 22lbs....

Status: offline 		i added another 3/4 in to the original 1/2 in of wood ....to give me a bit more clearance for the 20*10 i am swinging
I hope hat will also give it enough strength to take the extra weight of the engine....or i better hone my skills and land her smooth!

engine runs great just doing the final balancing, final weight is about 26lbs, kind of heavy for this plane ,but i have a lot of power up front....
will have video evidence

Status: offline 		I have observed "Green Fuelboy" purchase and own his T-28 and was there when he flew it. He had a 50cc engine in the nose and it also weighed in. Anything less than a 10 pitch prop on a lower rpm engine is not a good thing though. It found the sweet spot when he installed the 22x10 propeller. The aircraft will not take flight on it's own. The tricycle landing gear keeps it pasted to the runway no matter how fast your takeoff run is. You must rotate the plane when up to takeoff speed. Make sure you are moving fast before liftoff and then pull back on the elevator. Yes, it has flown, I know of two who have successful flights with it.
