Hey guys...this is my fist attempt at aerial video....Im using a cheapo ebay setup on my threedee. As you can see in the video...its not great, and cuts in and out frequently....actually the end was just static so i cut it out!....my question...... i had the antenna propped up high...good lithium batteries...and the tx antenna pointed downward. Is this the quality i should expect from a 45 dollar camera?..if so i can understand cause thats not really to expensive!!...but i want to know if going for the 800mw version would cure this problem..i was probally flying within 400 feet of the tx...thanks for any help!

what setup was it? Can you take a picture of it? Do you know if the quality was lowered when you put it on the web?

Were you using a new duracell 9 volt battery? Or a cheapo generic type?

Which type of Cheapo Ebay setup did you use? One of those tx is inside the camera housing setups? Hard to tell how much is the system and how much is the wmv rendering but your results are looking pretty much like my first results were.
Most of those integral camera/tx systems are VERY low powered so the range is really about arm's length! Higher powered ones have been appearing lately tho.
Rx antenna up high, tx antenna aimed downwards, you did it right as far as your installation goes. One thing I can suggest is that you MIGHT be tuned to a "ghost signal". I have had these systems seem to pick up the signal in several places while tuning but only one of these is the TRUE signal. With the tx and rx next to each other, tune in the signal with the rx antenna removed. This will ensure you are picking up the correct signal. This could be part of your problem. I am no expert on airborne video by a long shot, but I have learned most of this thru trial and error over the past few months.
I CAN say, with full confidence, that you will have MUCH better results with one of the 800mw systems. My fathere and I have used the systems from the Spylinker Ebay Store with good results. Certainly much greater range than you are currently getting.

If you have broadband access, check out my slope soaring video, "Grass Wired". It was shot with a completely stock 800mw Spylinker system.
It can be found here:
Grass Wired!
I also made a side by side comparison video using that transmission system but with a CCD camera instead among others.
That one can be found here:
Comparison Video, Medium res file.
Other than that, good first attempt! Keep it up, dude!
