Yes, this is normal and well documented in the "classic" Flash threads. I am running a P-160SX and have a dozen flights on my UF without any problems. You will always have some fuel left in the main tank. I previously had a classic Flash with a P-120SE and over 300 flights on that plane without any problems with the tank.

Absolutley normal! The UF does fly with a nose down attitude. On a P120SX I have the timer set 8 1/2 mins and there is alwasy plenty left for a go around. Timer starts gear up to gear down.
Flew mine twice yesterday evening, and she's magic! Most of the flight at half power with full power in the verticals - awesome!

Both me and a mate of mine have dialed out a bit of landing flap to 3 1/4" for a better landing profile and now she's fantastic off a grass patch.

Status: offline 		I filled both tanks to capacity and then drained the system through the UAT just as the motor would with plane level and retrieved 88oz of fuel. Pretty poor for a 112oz system. I then dropped the rear of the tank 1/4" and tried the same method again and retrieved 96oz. Better but still not acceptable and that is as far down as the tank can go without hitting the duct. Does anyone make a properly shaped tank? There is just something about unusable fuel that bugs me. Why carry it around?

You have a felt clunk in the main fuel tank? The stock set up works in flight 100%. With a felt clunk and the system as designed I fly 9 minutes, mixed speed, no air in the header, P-120SX...1000's of Flashes flying so it works fine!

I am using the felt clunks in both tanks and the wing tank is completely empty after draining. The main tank however has fuel that you can see up in front. I realize it's probably not a problem causer it's just a little unsettling to drain a tank and still have a pint of fuel sloshing around. Seems like comp arf would have remedied the issue early on.

On a different note, I am doing the maiden tomorrow. Overall I am very happy with the plane and would consider it a fine ARF.

Status: offline 		There are probably a couple of pictures of my sump and some others on the Classic Flash threads. The only one I have handy is this one. Basically I just added a sump to the back half of the main tank. This brings my total fuel capacity on the main tank to 104 ounces. I am not using the wing tank. With my Rabbit I was flying 8-9 minutes with probably 35 ounces left. With the Cheetah I am flying 7 minutes with maybe 15-20 ounces reserve. As you can see, I am not using the full bypass and have no problems at all with enough air for the Cheetah.

Then you are fine...I've test flown dozens of Flash models, never been an issue. CARF have nothing to fix, please understand that there have been over 1000 Flashes sold, if it was a problem, it would have come up way before now on the UF. The tank design works 100% in the air, CARF don't "fly" their aeroplanes sitting on the gound, so draining the tank fully sitting on it's wheels is not an issue

I just took these shots, this is a 9 Minute flight, the guys that were at PMFC the day I flew this tank out will tell you I flew fast, slow, snaps, spins etc etc. Look at the tank level and UAT...I cannot see ANY bubble, so I could have flown another 30sec and used more fuel from the main tank...
Do you guys re mould BVM tanks when you build BobCat's and Bandits? nah, so why here...it's fine if you assemble the tanks with the equipment they come with and are designed for...

Thanks for the input and it is well received. It would seem that you definitely know the Flashes well. I am a big fan of Carf and was in no way bashing them it's just a minor concern. I have the Comp Arf gee bee and like it alot. With hundreds of hard flights on it I can testify that they make well engineered product.
Now, off to the field for the test flight.

I am thinking of a Flash and i here people say it is not a good first jet. I'm not trying to start something.

I already have a very quick Comp Arf Spark, so i can't see it being much more difficult?

Yes i haven't played with a turbine, but i reckon i can learn pretty quick

Thats what i am looking for, a challenge and learning something new

Why not drain the main tank first and wing tank last? That way you will get every drop out of the main tank?

Maiden went great! One sweet airplane with no bad habits.
The only thing I changed was the amount of flaps for landing. I reduced it down to 3" which may be cut down even more.
200 mph is very easily attainable straight and level clocked with a ( real ) radar gun.

Status: offline 		Congratulations on the maiden! I just finished packing the Bobcat and UF in the trailer and am off to Phoenix tomorrow to spend a week there. Hope to fly 3-4 days at Speedworld where the temperatures are 30 degrees higher than here in Colorado Springs and the winds are 30 mph less!

Observations...
The servo hatch is larger
The Flap hole is still in the wrong place, so I will have to tuck the servo like David did.
The mounts are beefed up
The main former is moved an inch outboard
The main holes are offset
No cups under the struts
Flaps are longer too
Servo slots longer in cover
Mount a bit larger (good for fitting the Dreamworks)
Big bag of hardware
Same quality finish

Time to get crackin...

Oh ya.... soon to be for sale: CF Tbird Wings and Tail....
