This is normal behaviour for a Zagi. Officially, it is called the "Spiral of Death(tm)," and is well known in the Zagi community.

It simply means you have too much elevator throw for the speed/power/weight you're flying at. It's causing one wing to go into a high-speed stall.

The simple solution to avoiding it is to not turn as hard. Reduce the throw on the elevons if you have to, with ATV on your transmitter, or by other means.

Recovering from it is mostly a matter of luck and altitude. Most of the spirals of death I had with my Zagi were from low altitude, and ended when the plane made contact with something solid... When it's spiraling, the elevons are pretty much useless because they're stalled. No air is flowing over them. Down elevator is the only input that might do something useful. You need to get air flow established over the wing again.

Ahhh, this thread brings back font memories.

One other thing to add to Matt's suggestions is to throttle completely off when you are diving in the "spiral of death".

Basically, it is a high speed stall and it is much better to learn to react to this condition when flying a Zagi as opposed to flying a .60-size Extra or CAP.

Good luck!

I sometimes like to induce a death spiral with my Wing Warrior Raider. The easiest way to recover is to chop the throttle and return all controls to neutral until the plane starts flying again, then gently pull out being careful not to stall the wing again.
