Forget the stock elevons on the 16/25/2 and 4 cells.
Forget the stock hinges on it as well
AR7000 all the way, nothing else is worth the "savings" you think you will be getting.
Dont forget your heatsink for the motor.
I hope that you ordered the 16/25/2ce ,as it was pointed out that the setup I was suggesting you copy is the "e" version on 4 cells with the 6.5x6.5 prop
If it is just the 16/25/2c then you might not be able to use the 6.5x6.5 prop, you might only be able to run the 6.5x6.
(Gryphon could confirm or deny weather the 25/2c can run a 6.5x6.5)
Without glassing, IF you have a sound build, you should see above 120 mph.
Remember, the build makes the plane run the speeds we see. Build it bad and it wont go over 100, build it well and you will see close to 140.

Wow...been a long time fella's. I dusted off the new fuse today after flying my granny version (100mph stock airframe) for the first time in almost a year and a half. It flew great as expected and gave me the bug to put that 16/25/2 in the shaved fuse I have sitting here. I just broke 2 fingers so that should make things a bit sticky,.... Anyone building a speed demon right now? My last one got 138 on the flat and narrow top end. Hoping for a few more out of this one. I gotta take some time and read what has been happening here. Hoping to find some new innovative ways to keep flex at bay. Later

Ya I forgot the heat sink, I emailed them. [link=http://effluxrc.com/MEGA-16-25-2-E-MM16-25-2-E.htm]This[/link] is the motor I ordered. Besides beefing up your planes to keep it from coming apart, did I miss any aerodynamic mods that you guys are doing?

I just ordered my Mega 16/25/2 and ICE 100. Also what prop, I know Arcteryxxx said to go with the 6.5X6.5, any other opinions?

The 6.5*6.5 is the top speed prop for this motor/esc combo. For general hotdogging with great acceleration and jaw dropping verticals the APC 7*5Sport is the one you want. Guess the top speed with the 7*5 is about 115-120 but it reaches this speed instantaneously!
This is the setup I use the most and the amperage unloads to about 95 amps in level flight. Good luck on your 16/25/2E - you're gonna love it big time.

Mr. Mugen, Sir,
Great to see you here! I think I was getting into the Stryker's Dark Side just as you were moving on to other things, so I look forward to your input and ideas here firsthand.
Moparmyway has pushed the speed limit ever higher with ingenious high power systems and rock solid airframes. Flex is controlled with strategic placement of more and more carbon, and fiberglass and/or epoxy skin. One of us has even started vacuum-bagging his Strykers!
Here's my carbon layout built from .300" arrow shaft on my current speedster build.
Just have to figure out a good way to cram all those batteries in there!

BEACH- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't go with that receiver.[X(] I lost several planes to the 6100's. [:@] They are for close, slow stuff. Go with the 6200 or the 7000! You are upgrading to super high quality stuff and are no longer a "Park Flyer" I'd hate to see you lose it to a Park Flyer receiver.[]

RE: F27 Stryker Part 9: Crazy DARK SIDE - Beginners to Dark Extremes
Well I’ve been wanting to do this for some time..ENTER…the WIDE BODY Stryker! The rib down the center of the airframe is a balsa lamination that is 25mm (1inch) wide. This gives the interior FUZ part of the airframe a width of 60mm. LOTS & LOTS of room and only a little over 40 grams of added weight!
The pics tell the story….cutting that brand new FUZ was scary[X(] and when the cut was done I thought Holy Cow what have I done[&:]…..but it came together and will be much stronger than stock (CRAZY DARK SIDE…YOU BET).
Now I have some creative foam work to do at the nose with all the other usual Dark Side mods! This plane will get a radical motor and with the added width only AMPS will be the limit with prop selection. Top pieces will have to be fabricated as well......FUN FUN FUN!

Finster - let me be the first to say that is one cool looking plane....what did you make the top cover from? molded? I'm gonna have to do something similar to mine.

Arcticflyer,
That is some of the coolest innovation I've seen on this bird so far!
Opens up some serious possibilities for battery and gear placement.
I can see this mod catching on. As long as care is taken in getting everything lined back up flat and straight, I see great potential in it!
How did you tunnel the spar holes into the wings and assure they were at the perfect angle to keep the frame straight?
Are you going to be able to run the Custom RC motor mount? I'd guess it wouldn't be a problem if you can just carve away most of the original foam hump in the motor mount area.
Again...
GREAT THINKING!!!

RE: F27 Stryker Part 9: Crazy DARK SIDE - Beginners to Dark Extremes
Thanks guys!..... I still have along way to go on this mod. Am thinking through the motor mounting options and I would really like to use one of Custom mounts everyone is using. I think some creative use of the Dremel will make that motor mount work or I will make one of my own.
Yes Murd getting those rods straight is the most difficult part. I sanded a groove in the balsa for each one and checked the angle. I measured the stock wingtip to tabletop distance about 11mm and cut two blocks that were used to hold the wing at the proper height. I then twisted the carbon into the airframe doing one side at a time. I then test fit both of the wings onto the rib and CA'd the carbon rods to the rib.
Attached one side at a time to the rib with 20 minute epoxy poured into the spar holes and 5 minute epoxy for foam to rib attachment.
The line up looks good.....but the proof will be in the flyin[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

The canopy....well I made a fiber glass one about a year ago that turned out pretty good. I'm going to have to fabricate another glass one. I have a friend who has some experience with molding parts and hopefully if we stick our heads together a canopy will pop out
Tomorrow I'm gonna finsh up the nose area and cut those fake intakes (dragtakes) off of the sides....will post pics. The wider FUZ and nose will increased the drag a little bit but the room inside far outweighs that disadvantage.

Well....it was a good day with foam dust flyin.....got the nose work done and the "dragtakes" removed. Now it's on to the trailing edges......this beast is starting to grow on me
