You would be better off with the Saito 100 glow, both money-wise and power-wise. If you want gas, go with the 3W 24 or 28. Both have lots of power and run forever on very little gas.

is there a website for those gas engines? I can't seem to find one,
I was also thinking about the DLE-20cc Gas Engine

before I plunk down $500 for this engine I would like to get some opinions from people
who have this engine. its for a 10lb 65'' span WarHawk. or should I just get the Saito 100
4-stroke glow engine? DLE-20cc Gas?
thanks in advance.

Saito FG are for those who HAVE to have a four stroke and HAVE to have gas. If you can't decide between an FG and a glow, you probably will be happier with glow. If you want good power/weight, you probably want glow or two stroke gas. If you really want power, you'd better stick with glow two stroke.

I have three FG20, but I don't have a lot of time/experiance on them. I swore off two strokes and I'm loving my first gas engines. I'm considering converting my other glow to FG as well using more of the series. Cooling is a serious issue with the FG, there's several people running them in the Hanger9 bluenose P51. You may want to review how they dealt with heat in a cowled warbird in the FG20 thread. Some have had issues with overheating. I'm running in a cowled Extra 330 that's baffled.

If you are building the Top Flite P-40, it comes out nose heavy and just plain heavy to boot so a heavy motor is out of the question. Saito 125 is a good choice.

the Saito FG20 is 30 ounces
the Saito FA100 is 20 ounces
and the DLE 20cc is 29 ounces

I was youtube'ing all 3 and

the DLE has a nice sounding Idle, but off idle sounds like a weedwacker.
the FG20 sounds like a Allison (well to me anyways)
the FA100 sounds the same as the FG20

I have the Top Flite P-40 Gold Edition kit that I'm building. are they really that nose heavy?
seems lite as a feather so far. I assume one can just move the batteries back in that case?
thanks.

There are some really good threads on this plane. "Juice" started one of them and it has some good info. I suspect a little reading would do world of good on your build.

funny you should mention that.I was just reading Juices's thread last night.
Saito 125 (25 ounces), Seira retracts, glassing, typical bells & whistles, all
came out to 10.5lbs. just like the manual said it would with all the goodies.

other then that its the same info one finds in most build threads. which I
appreciate very much, becouse I'm no master builder. but perhaps I missed
the point.(?) everything I read about this kit always ends the same way,
"nice stable flyer without bad charatoristics and landings are very good
with the flaps deployed".

otherwise, why would top flite recommend up to a 120 4-stroke? not
trying to argue, just curious and wanting to learn.
