On the 400X, the CG should be at about 7-1/2 inches back from the nose, which usually entails putting the battery pack as far forward in the tray as you can. I am also assuming that you are using the 1700 MAh batteries that are stock on the 400X - anything smaller will most likely not be heavy enough to give the correct C/G. Also, to set the elevon trim, neutral position is about where the bottom of the elevons is parallel with the BOTTOM of the wing, giving a slight bit of up elevator at center stick. These two things should get you to the point where it is controllable at launch, and you can trim from there.

make sure there isn't too much elevator throw too.
It's overall weight should be a little more than 1.5lbs.

Make sure the elevons are up high enough. I noticed when I initially set my elevons, they looked straight. WHen I chucked the zagi to trim it did the same thing (and cracked the canopy).
They almost have to point up a smidge.

If it keeps diving, keep increasing them up a little bit more.

first get you c.g. as with other planes your first launch requires you to set the trims on your radio so that your plane has level flight. first trim your aileron left and aileron right, so that your plane isn't pulling in either direction, remember your goin to have to keep the plane up in the air while your doing this so you'll have to work the elevator(up down stick). once the plane isn't pulling in either direction then start trimming the elevons up and down throws (elevator). they should be trimmed so that at full thottle the zagi is neither climbing or falling. this trimming is very nerve racking for beginners and is the main reason for all initial crashes. once you get better then you can adjust the throws as desired( ie quicker response time) another thing is the thrust line . the motor should be parallel to the bottom of the zagi airfoil or the plane will require excess elevation up or down causing excessive drag(thus slowing down you plane)
