Can anybody tell me what would be a good starting point to set the down thrust for a flying wing that I am motorizing (pusher). The bird is a Mongo Sr. (eight foot WS).

Thanks in advance for any info offered. im

If the prop shaft is at the level of the wing chord line, then no up or down thrust will likely be needed. Some left thrust may be needed, depending on how much torque the motor produces. Torque reaction will tend to roll the plane right. If you have a spare mixer, throttle advance can be mixed to a little left aileron control instead of the side thrust.

Down / up thrust :

I got this tip on a german RC-forum : Draw a line from the nose of the aircraft to the CG at the wing, this should be your thrust line.
On my Alpina this worked out to approx. 1 deg downthrust.

Thrust is opposed to drag. In order that the thrust and drag should not form a couple in pitch, the vectors should be colinear. Because the Mongo does not have dihedral, the total drag will be aligned to the root of the wing as should the pusher thrustline. This will also align closely to the CG. You can't go wrong with this setup.
