mcrouchman, I was not aware Ziroli had an 86 inch Hellcat. Are you sure it's a Ziroli? Is it possibly 96 inches? Or has Ziroli just come out with a plan set I was unaware of? Thanks a bunch.

mcrouchman, the ziroli hellcat is a pretty straightforward build. i did one fully built up...see pics in my gallery or some construction pics on my website, under Projects. His plans show you everything, and they also come with a list of steps as a 'guide'. Plus, there are a lot of very experienced folks here on RCU when it comes to his designs (which all follow a very similar design philosophy). Just ask away on RCU!

Stuka Berry, I also have a Ziroli Hellcat. I found that the gear dont like to extend fully for landings either, so what I do is throttle back deploy full flaps and slow her down as much as she will stand then deploy the gear. This works then throttle up and set up to land. Mike

I Strongly appolagize, my plans that I bought were for a F8F 1&2 BearCat...I was told on the site from the guy I bought it from that they were Hellcat Plans, but nonetheless, they are good enough for me to start out with. If there are any sugestions from all of you "veteran" builders, it would be GREATLY appretiated!

The American Eagle glass and foam kit is not available yet. I should have the first out of the mold within a couple months. I am flying a Holman 80in Hellcat now. It weighs 24lb and has a G62(yup, its a rocket). I added 2 inches to the center of the wing sections(foam), this gave a little more wing area and spread the gear out a bit. Its like flying a sweet stick, very quick and nimble.

Hey dugman,
I never posted the finished Byron Hellcat I wrote about last year as being almost completed. I am attempting to attach a picture. The Hellcat has flown numerous times already and really is an outstanding flyer. Very very stable and predictable. Also very quick with the G-62 up front. My fears about five pounds of lead in the nose were all for not.

That's me at the nose cranking over the G-62. One or two flips is all it takes.

If you were interested in the Heritage Hellcat you're in luck! That same kit is still available from Skyshark. Check out skysharkrc.com Same kits with some improvements to the f/g cowlings. In the same size range the Marutaka kit is another option, a bit larger but count on much more work.

I have Plans for the Ziroli Bearcat, not the hellcat, I think it is 5 or 6 sheets...full notes on blueprints with much detail. Ziroli gives option as to the height of the rudder to make it handle more controlling, he found that the original plan of the rudder made the plane more "loose", so he heightened it to give it more control. I think there were a few other mods that he changed from the original plan, but nonetheless, they are great!
