Little OT story.

Took my SUV in for a service prior to my long trip to Namibia in 8 days time. The very efficient Service Advisor phoned me a while later with the quote and I indicated they should proceed with the service. Customary from them they would phone when the vehicel is ready and that I could come and collect. Around 15h00 on Wednesday I recieved the call inidcated that the service was done but the bad news is that it will not rev up. Some very wise person decided to put a pressure hose to the wiring and electronics of the vehicle and it popped the harness as well as a couple of injectors.

Moral of the story is that I now drive in a loaned red little monster similar to Buzz' until they hopefully will have mine fixed before Wednesday next week. Being the boss' car I am driving he assured my that he will be onto the technical staff hourly as he wants his car back..

Best wishes,

Urrrrghh...

Just got off the phone with Heliwife and she said... "I got home from work and walked past your helicopter table and I felt sad for you, knowing how much you will be missing your helicopters... then I logged on and saw a video of you flying a NEW helcopter around your room with a NEW Radio.. - I thought you didn't need ANY MORE Helicopters.?."

My response.. - "Yes but this is an EXTRAORDINARY situation I now find myself in.. I could never have foreseen it when I made that comment.. "

She said.. "Urrrggh... "

I thought two things when I saw the above.

1) That I replied to the negative when I saw your post.

2) That I ordered one of these sweeties.

I rekon I'm getting old.

I am just pulled the trigger and will let you know in 7-14 days!

I need a nicer Rx on my 500.

My 6100e creeps me out.

Prolly in my mind but I will let you know!

Thanx for the linky!!!!!

b

I have the 6100E in my EXI 450 and it walk range tests to about 700 meters..

The 6200 gets well over 2000 meters.

the satellite RX's really work..

I gathered it would be fine on my 500 (particularly since I don't let it get 10 meters from me) but the idea of a satellite makes me happy!

Just a quick vid of the MCPX in the Apartment now..

These Helis are Awesome when brand new.. So smooth and stable..

I strongly recommend that ANYONE who owns a SPEKTRUM radio should get one...

I agree, especially Brian. I got mine in April and have 150 flights on it now. It has really helped me in getting down inverted with the 450's and 500/550.

Yes, me too.. its a great little heli for practicing new things.. and very stable inverted.  it lets you gain confidence with minimal risk.. especially over longish grass..

I have lost count of the times I have flown too low inverted and clipped the grass with my MCPX and it stops flying (IE crashes) with no damage at all.. I set it upright and take off again.. Love it..

I believe this is a conspiracy to separate me from my wallet.

Really, it sounds like a real world solution to learn aerobatics without the need to use a sim!

Hey again Rob,
Nice to see Miss K is keeping your spending slightly under control
Ya think??
You fly mode 1 or I would offer you one of my mCPXs to fly while you are here..........

PS Enjoy movies mate!!

Hi... err my name is er  John....
I GAVE Rob an MCPX and a DX6i to use while in Sydney.....
He didn't buy one at all at www.rchobbies.com.au yesterday when he was there..
and it didn't cost him much at all..
And here is not a video of the radio and MCPX that he DIDN'T buy yesterday...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRouEVUxCyc
Besides.. Rob's wife is the most understanding SUPPORTIVE, and NICEST most delciously sexy gal, I've ever,  I mean, Rob has ever met.. .
PS.. I just borrowed Robs Laptop to post this... and um.. I'm going now..
Robs friend.. John..
PS.. and I was only visiting Rob, because he asked me to help him find something FABULOUS for his wifey for our, I mean their Anniversary..
Yeah.. thats it.....

Hey John,

I concur totally that the mCPX WHEN BRAND NEW is a blast to fly - and Oh so stable in hover! The real trick now is to not crash (or hard land) it so as to throw off its precise balance....!

Congrats on helping Rob to find the perfect gift for Rob to give his girl for their anniversary - I'm sure whe will LOVE it. BTW, Rob uses AN AWEFUL LOT of hot glue, so you might want to adhere the diamonds to her new helicopter fuselage for him

Peter
P.S. Did Rob teach you his flying skills - they transfered to you very well??!!
P.P.S. A mCPX only cost $8 if you have your own DX6i for a limited time.........

Hey again Brian,

.....it is a pity that you don't live closer to Liechhart (a suburb of Sydney 23km from me in Hornsby BTW ). They are a special price for a limited time only (mode 1 & 2s). I would recommend a "real world solution" over a sim anyday of the week. You can fly both indoors - just watch John's (and Rob's old) videos........

Peter

Hey again Edmund,

...we have got used to OT stories here mate Hope you get your SUV baby back better than ever with plenty of time before your trip!
Some "mechanics" are worse tools than they use I can safely say that 'cause my brother who is a mechanic has had a few apprentices over the years who were just like that when they started out. They quickly learn to respect what isn't theirs and get off the grog a little bit earlier in order to have total control of all of their faculties - so they are aware of what they are doing! It could easily have turned out worse.....just keep reminding yourself of that mate

Have a nice drive to Namibia - maybe you could fit a heli or two in your luggage (just don't forget the Tx )

Peter

Hey Rob

It's dark, freezing cold & blowing a gale........yep, must be Heliwife Range Check time!??!

I see that ultra hard, sharp, Range Check Rock overlooking the ocean & 20km of coastal road is free.

How about I sit on it, freezing to death & holding the radio control up, in just the perfect position, till my arms loose all sensation & cramp up completely while you drive many kms away in a nice, warm, heated car with coffee & little treats?

You go darling, do your Range Check, and I will sit here on this freezing, hard rock, with a big happy smile on my face, all the while thinking how much I love you and how LUCKY I am to have found a wonderful HELIBOY to marry!

I'm soooooo lucky!

Love Heliwife xoxo

Just a quick vid of the MCPX in the Apartment now..

These Helis are Awesome when brand new.. So smooth and stable..

I strongly recommend that ANYONE who owns a SPEKTRUM radio should get one...

I agree, especially Brian. I got mine in April and have 150 flights on it now. It has really helped me in getting down inverted with the 450's and 500/550.

Rob,
I'm also out of town, but I have to say I'm not as resourceful as you are. This is about all I can muster at the moment...

Joaquin

Went up to the "worlds largest" flea market (dubious distinction) today to visit with my friend from China who sells helicopters there.

I took my belt CP V2 to him because there is absolutely NO way I can find to get the bottom jesus bolt out! There's no head on it (looks like a rivet) and there's nothing sticking out the other side. If you buy something from him... he will repair it free. But, when he looked at the "bolt"... he said, *%#@** !!!! (well, it sounded llike that to me!) "No good, no good"... pointing at the "bolt". "You leave it here and I fix it. But, I ruin gear to get it out. Oh! Gear is already ruined!" LOL

Then, it happened. I looked on the shelf behind him and there were 3 beautiful Trex heli's sitting there. A 450, 500 and an 800! That thing is so big you could sit in it! He wants $575 for it... Bind N Fly...new in the box. I could feel my debit card trying to get out of my wallet. Anyway... I walked back to my car, and on the way home I found another Esky belt cp w/full body ... just sitting in the passenger seat. It was all a blur. I looked in the bag and pulled out a receipt. Darned if I didn't buy an extra set of blades too! Total price.....$160. I'll just say I wasn't in my right mind because of the heat. Yeah... that will.... will that work?
