At the field today someone told me that leaving a 50ma battery charger plugged into a 600mah battery will damage it if left on for over 15 hours. I disagree. Sometimes I leave a 50ma charger plugged in for a day or two with no problem. 50ma is a little more than a trickle charge, but shouldn't really destroy a battery. What do you guys think. He wanted to try one of those Lil Trickler adapters for a wall charger and I told him just to plug the charger in. I use the trickle on my cycler. Any other ideas on trickling? Anyone know the equation to figure out trickle charge for a certain battery? I used to know, but have forgotten. Isn't it something like C/10?

A day or so is no problem.

For long-term, use a lamp timer for 1 hour a day.

So one hour a day will be enough to keep it charged? I'll have to try that. Thanks!

Going longer than 15 hours will not damage cells at C/10 rate but the timer thing is a good idea. It has to do with long periods of charging leads to greater cadmium migration (cell degredation) and may cut down on your o/a number of cycles you'll get out of battery. Pulse charging is done for this reason also.
