Nice looking plane, love the colors

Kevlar is a bear to get the frayed edges looking good.

Thanks!
Yes it is. My first time cutting Kevlar.

So she's almost all done. I'm used to my giant scale IMAC planes....man this thing has no room in it! Having trouble getting the battery to fit without hitting the aileron control horns. I think I will have to cut the bottom of the pod to get the battery a few mm lower. AUW is 23.2 oz.

She's all done. Hope to maiden soon. This is what I ended up doing to the battery pod. Cut the bottom out and the battery fits ok now. I will end up having to tape the pod on because there is not enough material left for the screw to hold the pod on securely enough. It holds it, but when I give full throttle I can see the pod come forward a few mm's.

Oh yes, love the sound. I actually didn't post my second flight because I had a bad toss. Didn't quite give it a good enough throw and it hit the ground and did a few cartwheels. All is ok though. No damage. I guess I need to give a little more power and a stronger toss.

Question for you, what prop are you running and what ESC? I got an over current warning from my CC80 after my flight. I am talking with CC to see what they recommend.

I'm using a turnigy plush 60A Esc with no issues, their good for 70A, but I'm only using a 4.1x4.1 prop(APC), at full throttle static I'm pullin' about 65A, maybe the bigger Diameter is too much for the esc.

SUSA recommended a 4.75x4.75, haven't tried that one yet. So I would assume the ESC can handle these props. I did talk with CC and was very helpful. They told me to reduce the sensitivity of the current limiter function on the ESC. Going to try that and I also bought an ammeter to measure the static draw to see what each of these props are pulling. Can't wait to fly her again. This speed thing is addictive! Hope the new FAA rules coming out doesn't ruin our fun!

A 4.75x4.75 if I recall correctly was drawing somewhere around 90A static, too much for the esc I'm using, but I've got an CC Ice Lite 100 on the way, yee hah.

So I ended up changing out my ESC to a ICE Lite 100. I was pushing the 80 and also wanted data logging. Here is my first flight on the ICE 100. Readings look good. Does anyone know what temps are normal?

Awesome... I just got one for my Escape, but havn't tried it yet, waiting till the spring when the snow melts. Do you just use the CASTLE LINK to set it up?

Had a little accident last weekend. Rough landing, fuse cracked up but wing and stab were untouched. Going to get a little bit bigger bird so I am selling the wing and stab.

Yes you can get them from SUSA but they take about 4-6 weeks to get. $80 bucks. I was having some trouble seeing this thing so I want to go bigger. Still love the plane though!

I'm running that same motor with an Ice Lite 100 in my Escape, which is a similar model, and only a 4.1x4.1. The 4.75x4.75 will pull about 100A static...probably too much for that ESC IMO.
Cheers

I'm running the Neu 1110/1Y (4550kV), Hyperion 3S 2200mAh 45C, Castle Ice Lite 100, APC 4.1 x 4.1 prop.

I record all my flight times and how much capacity went back into the battery after a charge. Over an average of eight recent flights (that are all about 95% to 100% WOT the entire filght), my average flight times are 1.95 minutes (1:57), average recharge = 1880mAh for an average mAh/minute of 964 A/minute and an average current draw of 57.8A in-flight (obviously).

Based on the recharge capacity, I'm also draining my battery down to 14.5%.

My static numbers are 70 - 76A, 42,000rpm, 750 - 830 Watts.

I'd say your 4.75 x 4.75 prop is too big. You may be able to run it for short bursts (seconds?), but certainly now WOT. Some have recommended cutting down a 4.75 x 4.75 to 4.0 x 4.75. That will lower your current. But I'm loving it with the 4.1 x 4.1 and have about thirty full-throttle flights.

Tim
