$450 is right.  I paid $500 last June. They have actually went down $50.  Keith

The kits are $450 the $399 price was during Christmas special. If you take a look at the market place you will see that they are at that price. The gear on the new V3 are around 1.5 inch shorter.

Oh I see because I have not bought anything from ModellbauUSA I am not allowed an opinion, did not know that thanks for clearing that up

The only complaint I had was the fact that you have not answered a question about your airframe, I don't consider that a lot to complain about.

As to saying the struts are too short on many occasions, if that is the case why has the question been asked 24 posts back, it has obviously been missed by most of the people who frequent this thread, and obviously by me who is on RCU all day according to 747 junky the truth is I have subscribed to this thread as one of the original builders of a turbine version of the Falcon 120 I thought I could help others complete their aeroplanes.

Has anyone been using a "matchbox" or equivalent on the 2 elevator servos to avoid any potential binding? Just wondering what people's experience has been regarding this.

Thanks

i have used them before but no need. on my Tornado i just used endpoint adjustment and had the servos plugged into 2 different adjustmen. you will never use max throw so nothing will ever bind.

I agree with Tumbler no need for match box.  If you have a good radio and plug everything in separate channels yes just use end points.  With a good radio you can adjust both sides of the servo and it will never bind if you set it up correctly. Not to knock Match Box but with the high end radio's you can do a lot that you could never do a few years ago.  The technology in our hobby is amazing.  Not long ago if you told somebody that one day we would be flying model turbines they will have laughed at you.

I remember when servo reversing came out.  We thought that was the coolest thing ever.

Ain't that the gospel. It was a jump into the Twilite zone. My first TX that would do that was the Kraft Gold Spetrum 6. Still have it. Ha. Ha.

You rock! Ordered on Tues morning, here on Fri morning...that's great customer service. Oh and you answered all 5 of my phone calls too..

Love the blue Navy scheme...there will be some jealous Tornado owners out there for sure.

Can't post a pic from my phone but will do so later.

Does anyone have a spare carbon fiber control horn they aren't going to use? I messed one up, so I'm short one. Thanks!

I got mine two weeks ago and had it assembled in about twelve hours. I tried to do the assembly as close to the manuel as possible, no initial embelishments, although a few have crept in. I have trailing link struts so I had to relieve the wells a little to accomadate the swept location at the rear of the wells. I had to also relieve a small space for the link springs, both very minimal.

I am using a P-60SE on the supplied 5deg mount, Sidewinder retracts and Prolink trailing link struts from Dreamworks, BVM wheels and brakes, Jr 11X transmitter and a JR 921 receiver using all 9 channels, i.e. two elev, two flap, ail, rudder, ret, brake, thr. Servos are a mixture of what I had on hand, 225 MG's in the booms, and standard ones elsewhere.
I just managed the recommended CG at 12- 3/4"with the batteries next to the fuel tank, and nothing in the nose and coming in at 15.5 pounds.

I maidened the plane yesterday and had a really exciting flight. The takeoff was in 175 feet with no flaps and a good smooth right pattern fly out and proceeded to check flight charactistrics for a few minutes. When I decided to do a gear pass I needed to reverse the pattern I had been flying and proceeded to make a large right hand turn at about 3/4 throttle. I noticed I was coming up on a DO NOT CROSS line in the turn and tightened up the turn and the plane high speed stalled and started to head straight down in a spin. I throttled back to minimize the damage and to my surprise regained control about three feet off the ground. For a few seconds it hovered like I had thrust vectoring, then as the nose came down I was able to fly it out. I did another pass around the field and came in on a nearly perfect landing. Talk about adreneline!!

Moral is; Use the factory recommended throws on the elevator at least. I usually have extra throw on my surfaces, and while extra on rudders and ailerons isn't too bad, on the elevator it could cost the plane. I had been using a little over an inch of throw instead of the recommended 3/4" and when I pulled full up to tighten my turn it caused the stall. On landing I put the elevator at the recommended 3/4".

I flew it again today and had a virtually perfect flight and an effortless and perfect landing. The plane is a joy to fly.

I flew it in basic blue and yellow today as I have yet to receive the decal set, but still drew comments from everyone on how good it looks. No pictures yet as she is still undressed.

John

Thanks Mike for watching the thread. I thought that maybe one of my fellow modelers might have a spare laying around. Henry is good about answering the phone and PM's and emails, thought I would try others first.
