Yes, the stock tub and canopy are not good fits. I actually purchased two Noray V2 canopies before I knew they didn't fit the V3 well. I will purchase the V3 canopy and tub from Ray.

i agree they are not a good fit but can be made to fit if you use my frame technique.  Very solid and robust when completed.  The fact that the Norray canopies are less likely to split makes them a whole lot easier to work with when pulling them across the fuz canopy aperture.

This is how I did it for the V1 not very nice looking however it is all hidden and works well. On my Falcon 120 I had 4 screws holding the canopy down a bit of a pain. It is an aftermarket canopy I got from the good old USA can’t remember who from. However it is very good quality and it fitted.

Wow! Changing out a aileron servo after noticing some slop I was testing things when I found a burned up elevator servo! The other servo was operating the elevator on the last flight when I brought her in just cuz she didn't feel right....

225 mg must have been binding....my bad I guess....

Lucky lucky lucky.....

Are you using a 5 cell nicad or A123 receiver battery?  Hitec 225's don't like 6+ volts and are notorious for burning out.  Use a 4 cell pack or better yet different servos.  225's don't return to center very well either.

Or split the elevator and they will not fight each other.

Just started putting mine together. Are HS/5245 hitec digital ok for the rudders and elevators using A123 6.6V?

Thanks,

I have 5245's on the elevator and 225's on the rudder. I am running dual 1100 a123 packs. I have 15 flights on mine so far.

5245s will work I almost went with them but Ive heard of alot of people having issues with them, I am a fan hitec servos btw. I ventured out and went with some Airtronics 94820s havent flown the new tornado yet about 80% built but so far they seem plenty strong and seem to center
perfectly, unlike my hitecs that seem to struggle with that sometimes

I had Hitec HS-5245MG on the rudders and elevator with LiFe batteries in my V1 tornado that I sold last week and had well over 70 flights with no issues at all. One thing I must clarify, I programmed the elevator servos so that the don't bind at all through out the entire travel.

If you guys would just split the elevator it would end the binding trouble. The servos would just have to be close not exact and if one fails you have a chance of getting it back.

You are absolutely right. I just thought about splitting the elevator too late when I was in the pain of programming the servos to match. I had a look into the already glued hinges and there were three of them so for me to split the elevator then, I had to cut and rehinge the elevator and it was easier to continue programming the servos to match. When I start the V3 I would most likely split the elevator, do you have any pics of your setup?

Put three hinges on each elevator half, no matter how small a surface is you should never use two, loose one and the surface is gone.

Maidened my V2 / Merlin 90 combo today. Pretty uneventful it was. The model behaves generally well, and with flaps down it crawls. Really an easy model to fly and land. Not very fast as the airframe is quite draggy. Its a bit painful to assemble in the field, mainly because of the tight fuselage and my big hands. The blind nuts in the booms seem to eat the screw's threads. I may redo them and inverse the wing bolts to be fastened from outside.
But, all in all, a working model it is....

That was my post on the Falcon thread, I put the T nuts inside the fus and drilled a hole through the wing with a guide tube for a Allen bot into the T nut, I retained the bolt with a lock nut recessed into the wing root, hope that helps, may be able to find the pics if I look long enough, its a long way back in the thread about page 90 or so.

In both the Falcon 120 and the Modellbau F-86 threads I posted photos of mine
I thread a bolt into the wing T-nut, then goes through a 1/4" wheel collar mounted to the inside of the fuse, which holds things tight wtih a cap-screw.

Hi guys!

This is my first jet and I'm getting ready to buy my first turbine.  I'm looking real hard at the King Tech K100G.  What do you think?

Thanks,

The K 100 will be a bit to much for it a K 80 is a perfect match for the airframe. Thats what I have on mine easy 7 minutes with some reserve.

I would get the K100 you can always turn it down. The weight, size and fuel burn is a little more. But the 100 has 3 lbs more thrust. So it will work in a biger air frame when you move up. Just my 2cents

Agreed. If it is the same weight and size, get the K100. I have a Rabbit 100, and as far as I'm concerned, it's a perfect match. It never hurts to have more power on tap when you want/need it.
