Where is the wing tube location (percent wise) on the root cord? I'm designing a 40 size ship and I'm a little lost on the location. Any info. would greatly be appreciated. :D

35 % should be a good place. Normally, I see wing tubes just behind the CG or at the most, directly on the CG.

Interesting Question
When designing a wing for plug in applications, There are several Prime factors to concider,
As follows
Since this is the pattern forum,, I’ll address both double taper and swept wing configurations.
Of Course, depending on tube length, diameter and % thickness of wings airfoil % of taper ect,
the magic number falls between 30 and 40% "BUT" this is not always at the wings root in most cases.
On a swept wing, placing the tube at 35% of the root will locate the END of the tube terribly close (if not protruding) to both the leading edge, AND the wings top surface (also varies with dihedral and thickness).
Using the 35% setting on the root of a constant cord wing would be just fine, but, assuming your leading edge tapers to a narrower tip, Heres a simple way to locate the tube.
Locate ( measure ) the exact distance the tube will be protruding into the wing.
Example: "12 inches"
Now mark the wing plan measuring from root, towards tip "12 inches"
At that point, Draw a line " front to rear " on the wing plan paralleling the wings root.
On THAT line measure back from leading edge approximately 35%.. That is where the tube SHOULD be in most cases.
Since the thickest cross section on most airfoils used in pattern fall between 30 and 45%, ending the tube at that point will provide the most thickness and will provide plenty of material both above and below the tube.
Many swept wing models such as the finesse, epicure and others, the tube bore is located in excess of 50% the root dimension front to rear. Very common.
Other considerations to watch for, retract locations, servo locations.
I generally tie the retract mounts to the rib located at the end of the wing tube for added strength.
Hope that helps
