ThunderbirdJunkie has no life outside of RCU. If you guys need his help, let him know.

Of course he realizes he is not the ''first'' choice to be a moderator

Don't think anyone that posts regularly on the electric forum would be a good choice
For some reason it seems to be one of the more... umm... active boards from what I seen.

I guess active would be a good word to describe it. Where most the others are pretty laid back, and I've not seen much moderation at all(outside some ad for some site or some junk like that) since I started on em.

My only critisism of the moderation is that the trolls or instigators could be dealt with a little sooner, because as we have seen, the decent 'regulars' get sucked into the arguement as well, i try to avoid commenting but even hitting the 'report' button results in no action being taken.

Agreed, Lee. The biggest problem seems to be lack of competent personnel.

I disagree when there has been a issue I reported it and it was dealt with withen 20 minutes.

Thats exactly the kind of sarcastic/cocky response we can do without.

When you say dealt with, do you mean the offender was banned, or a post was simply deleted?

The post was deleted, and I don't know, nor care what has happened with the poster, as that is none of my business.

Lee, the car section is understaffed. How is that sarcastic or cocky?

It's sarcastic/cocky because his post implied one thing (that the moderators are doing a good job, but sometimes it takes too long for a problem to be identified and dealt with) and yours implied a different thing (that the problem is a lack of competent personnel), and yet you said that you agree with him. Maybe you do agree, but what you imply with your wording is different.

I wouldnt worry to much about it, and i dont think any moderators are either. unless there getting paid or making commission or they get 75% off at towerhobbies, i dont see why they would devote more then a few hours a day to this moderating buisness, whats in it for them?, a gold membership?. i was bickering with this young fellow for a minute, and i also saw one more war in another thread in the same forum, other then that everywhere else has been clean, ive also been here for years around y2k and the moderators have done there job, so 10 years and the forums havent failed horribly.... somebody is doing there job might aswell say its the moderators

Personally I got great respect for the mods
They do a job I wouldn't want to do
Was going to submit an app till I thought about how I'd have to be polite , and civil at all times, which is something I can't see myself being able to do for long

i think a little sparring back and forth (like a heated debate) is healthy, but the name calling (which i have done in the past) is uncalled for, it is easy to want to voice you opinion. if someone was constantly attacking people, i doubt i would be able to stop myself from responding. so basically what i am saying is its easy to get sucked into an argument. the post should be fully read by a mod, see were to problem started. blaming everyone is just a politically correct, sissy, bandaid approach. it doesnt fix the problem. if i came on here and for not reason blatently tried to start a fight and/or argument, I would expect to be banned from rcu. the mods need to take said trouble makers, analyze their history and decide weather they just got sucked into an argument and have previously posted helpful stuff, or maybe they are constantly causing problems, and should just be removed from rcu.- just my opinion-scott.

Thats a great opinion

ditto

If you look at most the recent flame wars they were generally started by individuals that were extremely argumentative calling people idiots and what not right off the bat. They even were posting similar worded things in old dead threads trying to rekindle the flame with new people

Like one of the more recent ones (not the most recent) he went in threads where brand new people came here to ask for help and called them idiots for not using the search feature...

The other side of it is being able to recognize and ignore an obvious troll post.

If you can't just roll your eyes, say to yourself "Holy crap, what a moron" and move on with your forum-ing, you may want to take a look at your social interaction skills. These situations happen every single day both on the intertubes and real life. If some guy yells at you because you didn't know your turn signal was burned out, and he thought you intentionally didn't use it, are you going to get in a screaming match on the left shoulder of the interstate over a stupid misunderstanding?
No?
Are you going to get into a game of bumper cars over somebody forgetting to signal their lane change and accidentally cutting you off on the freeway?
No?
Such is the intertubes, good friend. It's just words on a screen. If they don't contain something of value, gloss over them and move on. In this way, absolutely, everybody involved is to blame, not just the one guy who said HAHA Y'ALL ARE WRONG.

In ThunderbirdJunkie's opinion, everybody who got into these tiffs with the person who is presumably in question should have been placed on mod status.

ThunderbirdJunkie has probably been put on mod status more than everybody in this thread combined. It has never been for personal attacks, though (unless he is mistaken?) ThunderbirdJunkie never once attacked the person in question; he simply corrected erroneous information and poor advice. There is a big difference.

The best thing about the TBJ is you always know what to expect, Agree or not he is steady in his response's. Which says alot about someones character.

Ok guys, this thread is not here for an open discussion to carry on. Sheograth opened this thread in order to pass on information on how the forums will operate. We left it open in order to answer questions from the members. But now it's turning into a general discussion turning towards being silly. I'm going to close this thread down.

Thread locked
