Hi Rune, I have carbon canopy wt = 183g and plastic canopy wt = 220g for Spark Dynamics, the carbon canopy is from the first batch of planes so Krill may have improved on fabrication since then.

Rune,

If your looking for some real weight savings you may want to contact Dave snow about getting some wood wings and stabs, this will save you the most weight.

Hi Andrew
I have consider the buildup wings, dont really know how much I need to save , but my "plastic" canopy weigh 112 gr think it should be possible to save maybe about 50 gr there.
so start with that and see how much work I put in before the snow melts away!
I was thinking about making a canopy with one layer off 20gr fiberglass and maybe 2 layers off 50 gr carbon cloth.
anyway have to make a new one the old one cracked a bit when I remove it .

Hi Rune,

Why don't you just order a carbon canopy direct from Krill? That's what I did when ordering my Dynamic. Their factory canopy has an outer layer of carbon then thin urethane foam sheet and finished with glass. It makes for a light rigid canopy.

Cheers,
Jason.

Stephen,

Sorry I was just able to jump back online and check this out. I do run a soft mount type of setup with the hacker. I picked up the parts that were needed from mcmaster carr. Basically its just a rubber grommet that has a aluminum spacer in the middle to not allow it to compress to much, then It has washers on both sides of the grommet.

I note that your spinner sits very neatly on the Fus, are the offsets from the factory bob on?

Cheers Dave

Dave,

That was the first model that came from that factory so we built it with it being flush to the spinner ring,
After flying the plane we had to add downthrust as well as right thrust. I think the nose is 0-0. I will try and post a picture of the nose of my model with the way it's set now.

 Hi colleagues,
this is mine Spark after first 20 starts. Weight with 4250mAh Dualsky HED is 4780g (4950mAh - 4900g). Snap is with bigger aileron better. Personally you may I recommend JR 9521HV and 3425HV servo.

Best Regards

Hello Jan,
Beautiful plane!
I am surprised seeing the battery very forward in your Spark evo.
In my Q80 equipped Spark evo the battery is put just after the undercarriage in order to be able to have the center of gravity at about 5cm after the wingtube as in post 140 (Thanks Andres Girabel)
Where have you put the center of gravity? and you the other Spark pilots?
Thanks all and regards,
Jean Claude L'Hostis French F3A pilot

Hi Jean,
1) Sorry for my English
2) CG Shall I 220mm from wing root ( more picture). This setting prance about František Pokorný (master Czech Republic, co - author Spark evo).   Board battery - operated Shall I this way in front, for I have venial motor plus battery than you. On mine style me sits this setting. This weekend may I try setting that the employs J.Girabel, but CG at the back shan't like on F3A. drove I'm mock - up with CG at the back (flew without mild tug elevator) plus suits me it. Have centre of gravity along how 225mm personally I think, that the isn't fit. In my CG position is Spark steadier, better governs in crosswind.

Best Ragard
 Jan

HI guys...

I've been reading all your comments, and with the advice of Andrew "master" Jesky ,seemed more than enough .. but I want to say something very important about a little detail on the wings. Found today on the wings of our Spark Evo1,  on the Ailerons hinges line that there is some stress after 270 flghts.
The photos show a little modification, to prevent further "stress bacteria" attacking the hinge axis.

About CG position, in the Jonathan Girabel´s plane, the battery ( 1000 grs) is their position a little behind , because the Q80 engine weighs 120 grams more than C50 XL....

Regards ....

Andres Girabel..

Ohhh...forget it !!!!....video make yesterday !!!!....www.videofy.me/v/437447.... not sequence...free style !!!!

I'm surprised that you are having trouble with the hinge as it's kevlar full length. Using CA on it sounds like a worry too.. One would think that CA would make it too stiff and too fragile.

Cheers,
Jason.
