I noticed that Sullivan make some 4-40 aluminum ball links. has anyone have any experience how strong they are? I was wondering if they are strong enough to use on a fuse mounted elevator servos with removable stabs. Would make disassemble easier than taking the linkage apart at the firld.

Thanks for your thoughts, ML

I don't think that is the intended purpose of a detachable ball link. Would it work? Probably,, Would I feel comfortable using them in that application?? Nope. This is just my humble opinion, if anyone has any experience using these on control surfaces please chime in.

I would think they would be great for that purpose. They have a positive engagement with the spring pressure to lock them on and take up any slack that would develop. I have seen people snap the ball links on and off the balls on a 40% without a thought to stretching the plastic of the outer part of the link.

Mr Tail

No. Just a 27%.
Looking for some thoughts right now if anyone has used these links for this. If you go to 40% like you do, I would have to buy a van and these would not be needed.

My point is,, Ball links are great! But,on the control surfaces of larger (this is the giant scale aerobatic/3D forum) a ball link 'stands off' of the control horn that is mounted to the surface. Any significant torque will twist the control horn. Most large scale aerobatic/3D airplane are now using a large single threaded post and clevis for control horn or double truss control horn. With single servos available now producing over 600in/oz, care must be exercised in linkage set up.
Sullivan make great products, well thought out and engineered. The 4-40 Aluminum QD ball links may work well with 'smaller' giant scale detachable elevators. It will be interesting to see the results. Keep us posted.

well im interested in hearing some feedback because i have a 40% with one servo that stays in the fuse and the other in the stab, I am in need of something that would be detachable. has anyone used them?:
