Status: offline 		What CG are you guys with the yellow aircraft p-38s flying with ? is the manual recommended CG on the nose heavy side ?

I have had two of the Yellow P-38's, and used the exact CG they recommend. You should use their recommendation at least for the first few flights. All of the gear rotate to the rear so you get the best of both worlds - slightly tail heavy for flight and slightly nose heavy for landing. Keep your speed up on landing as the stall characteristics are severe and offer little warning. The plane flies great and the only thing you need to be really accurate about is the reliability of your engines. This aircraft is virtually impossible to save on an engine out unless you are very high.

Status: offline 		cool, thanks for the info ... good point on the gear retraction and a significant weight / CG shift there ...

I am running 2 Zenoah G-38s .. i have flown YA p-38s on same power before, but i liked my last on with a pair of ZDZ 40s a heck of a lot more !! maybe over winter i might go for 2 50cc engines depending on how the 38s fly ..

Status: offline 		I had the ZDZ 40's on my first one - and I lost an engine at about 80 feet. It flipped upside down and turned 90 degrees before I could react. I love the kit so I got another one and went to G-45's. The power and speed are awesome on APC 20 X 10 props. You pay a little 'scale' price for the G-45's, but the reliability is worth it to me. I hated the rear carb on the ZDZ40 because the needles come out in line with the cowl mount, and the fuel tank has to go right behind the firewall. Very difficult to adjust, and to get the throttle servo's to work properly.

Status: online 		Hi there guy's i have built and flown several of the yellow aircraft p-38's and in my opinion it is a very nice plane. Just a heads up on the C.G make sure you do balance the plane with the gear retracted or else it will be way tail heavy when they do go up. On my last one that i just sold to a good friend of mine, i did move the C.G back just about a half inch i think it was, i put the C.G right on the main plywood spar for the wing hold down. It seemed to help the plane rotate better on take off and from what i could tell it could have gone back a little further with out making it to snappy at all. the engines i had in mine where DA 50's and it just made all the difference in the world over the G-38's as in the way it flew and tracked in the turns,and man it was fast. Here are a few shots of the plane.

Status: offline 		I have a new kit with everything needed to finish minus motors. All retracts scale interior, dash,all door cylinders. I was thinking of selling. I dont know when I will ever get around to building it.
