Hi guys,
in Italy I managed to find this 20 litre can.
It's marked Mobli DTE Oil Light and not Mobil DTE 24...
Is it the same stuff?

Wren recommends 3% oil. I mix 3.5 to 4% in mine just to be a bit on the safe side.

I mix one Qt. to five Gals of Jet-A in whatever I'm gonna run it in!!! In the Summer I Alt. between 5 Gals of Jet-A and K1 Kero. In the winter month's I burn Jet-A all the way. for the past two years I have use mostly Mobile DTE Lite 24 for turbine oil.

I run Wrens (SS & MW44's) at the recommended 3%, no problems at all.

Using the DTE light. - John.

The wren 54 family can run at 3%-5%. Its in the manual.. RB runs DTE light at the shop if that helps. A few guys run DTE medium at 5%, since its easier to get in gallon jugs.

there are alot of excellent oils, just do a test by mixing some in a small jar and let it sit... if it separates, do not use it..

I run AMSoil synthetic two stroke and dTE light. I ran AMsoil this past season as a test. I ran SAber.. it worked fine at 3%. 5% its a little thick but still worked ok.. 4% was the optimum for all my turbines. THis season, I will probably running the AMSoil Dominator racing oil. Im making sure these oils are good for bearing wear. so far so good. Saber has a very high flash point, so it leaves a little oily residue. again, not bad for bearings though, but i was trying to find the balance. I was the only one running it in my bunch, so we could compare. No fuel/oil related issues seen..w the AMSoil though..

I had to get away from the real turbine oils because they were eating at my hands/skin..

The 2 oils mentioned here (DTE 24 and DTE light) aren't the same. They are listed separately on the Mobil website. What the difference is I don't know but it isn't just that they are in different cans.

For what it's worth, I have been using the stuff in asimace's post and it seems ok. I haven't run that many hours on it though.

Im looking for a DTE light source in my area. Grainger is 110$ per 5 gal... I know it can be had cheaper somewhere..

DTE, DTE Lite, Mobil Jet II , Aeroshell 500...... Will it all work in all engines...??? What is the difference in the DTE and DTE Lite, and which one should we use.??? I am flying AMT and was wondering about switching from Aeroshell 500... Does anyone have a list of Engine Mfg's and what oil is approved for each ???... Dazed and Confused.... AGAIN !!!!

if it has the Milspec 23699?? 2399 ....whatever.....then it should be fine amigo. keep the mix ratio the same but as always the AMT boys should be able to answer, give 'em a jingle.

Ive been using Mercury Premium Oil TCW-3 at 3%, same stuff they use up north.
All good so far, very clean burning.

If someone tells me not to use on their product, I'll simply switch engine brands. That easy.

I am long retired but remember using Mobil dte light in both Hydraulic and mechanical variable speed gearboxes over 40 years ago so it is not a new oil unless, as is likely, some development has taken place.
I know from my petrol engines how difficult it is to remove exhaust oil residue from my models where I use tt two stroke oil so I have always stuck to turbine oil in my turbines. If there are any bragging rights my Wren ss has completed over 61 hours (4% oil) and Wren just tell me to keep running it. I guess there are lots of turbines with more hours but I have certainly had good value, Ron.

My answer would be NO, that's NOT the right stuff. Todd at Dreamworks is selling 32 wt, not 24. Perhaps are others using 24(?) but the stuff is already pretty thin at 32, Todd is no dummy, and I wouldn't use a lighter wt.
