.....Joel, you mentioned a material that the jet guys use to reflect heat.......do you happen to know the product name?........I would be interested in it to help protect the servo.........I thought of just using a heat barrier between the exhaust and the servo.........

Thanks so much......Rich.

Rich,

This is a links to the heat stuff I was talking about. one is a fabric blanket and the other is a ceramic coating you can put it on most anything that you want to place between the exhaust and the servo. In my case I put it on some glass fabric but can put it on just about anything like a balsa "shield". You could also use it to coat the inside of your cooling ducts ?? And it's fuel proof.

Blanket

Coating

Also Reynolds now makes a teflon coated aluminum foil that you can get in the food store. works great as a non stick surface with your CA/paper process and I've used it for flat sheet glassing ie coated light/med weight glass fabric with resin to make a flat sheet that can be used much like your paper process.

Joel

.....Thanks Joel........I especially like the idea of using the ceramic coating............and your suggestion for using it on the interior of the cooling ducts and the fabric blanket could be wrapped around the exhaust where it passes close to the servo.....plus using a ceramic coated barrier........that should work great.........the teflon coated alum is another good idea............I have a huge roll of sticky-back Teflon.......18" wide that I use quite a bit for laminating paper and mounting photos on illustration board, foamcore, etc........so, I have plenty of this backing film...........but, I am also going to try the coated alum...........I worked for the Vought Aircraft Company in Dallas for 31 years......mostly as an illustrator in presentations, technical arts, graphic arts and finally in tool design as an AutoCad illustrator.

......When I went to work at Vought in 1968, our work station was a six foot wide drafting table......no computer......that came along about ten years later..........so, all of our work was done "lick-n-stick".......cut-an-paste to you.........we used the drafting machine and triangles to draw horizontal and vertical lines.......using drafting pencils, ruling pens or repido-graph pens to create those lines, etc.
......anyway, I ended up with a roll of this 3-M double sticky back product that we affectionally called "Mothern-inlaw-paper".........because it was sticky on both sides..............thanks again for your input Joel.

Rich.

Looking good!. You ought to sell your dummy engine as a kit.

Chic, I did make a set for Murphey.......but, it consisted of the cylinders, crankcases and gear cases only....I think he also installed them on the G26......he installed some detail to finish them enough for his project.............I dont think he had to modify the castings to fit his G26........I can cast the fourteen cylinders , two crankcases and two gearcases along with the alum pushrod tubes if you wish........but, to include the finer detail would be too time consuming..........but as an option, I can install the gearcases to their crankcases with the fine .080 brass hex bolts.......that will give them a more finished look..........take a look back at Murpheys finished Bobcat to veiw his installation.....

......Chic, it has taken me a month to get this far on the Right engine.....and, I have barely started on the left one.....but, it should go faster since I have already gone thru the trial and error phase of this endevor.......and, I have been spending as much time per day at the bench as I possibly can.............I still have a few days to go to completion of the right engine............so, here are a few more pic's of my progress...........enjoy.

Rich, when you finish your engines and get a few moments to breath, go right ahead and make me a set. I'll add the details as Murphy did. Just send me an email to redtailpilot@aol.com with your snail mail address and price plus shipping. You should see the smile on my face. Chic
