Hello,

I have an older Yellow Aircraft Zero that I am restoring (it was crashed) that has a Super Tiger 3000 in it. I am not sure what type of muffler I should get for it to be totally enclosed in the cowl, whether it be a Pitts, Inverted, stock etc. No mention of the type in the instructions and the guy at Yellow didnt seem to know..he just guessed it was a Pitts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think you can totally inclose the engine. Unless is lquid cooled. Most cowls have the bottom open for exhaust pipes . If your engine mount is set at 45 then it is a good chance that you had a pitts muffler

Check out Bisson mufflers. You should be able to find what you need.

If your engine is mounted upright you might take a look at the B & B Specialties mufflers. I have one on an O.S. BGX in a Yellow Zero and everything is inside the cowling. The two downpipes from the muffler will go to flex pipes to duct the exhaust out of the cowling near the bottom.

Thanks for everybodys help on this. I looked at the Brisson mufflers and there are like 3 or 4 different types..Pitts, Inverted, etc..hard to figure out which one will work.

I will checkout the B&B stuff too.

Thanks,

T

sorry to hijack, but it's along the same lines.
i'm building a Royal Zero, will be using a Leo37, currently the mount is stock so the engines upright, but as it's not finished i may chop the mount and use a plastic one it so IF i have to cut the cowl for the head you wont see it on the side or bottom.
Question is, how would you guys go about making a custom exhaust that fits in the cowl with scale outlets, i saw this pic in the current RCM&E of such a exhaust ( larger ). getting the gas to the exits isn't hard, just pipes out, but making it work propperly is, any ideas? rules of thumb ect, outlet pipe has same volume as the standard muff for example??
Thanks
