There are really nice too.

I have heard of a kit to make the Rhoms a spring down like the Spring Air.... or was that for the Robarts?

Status: offline 		the valve is what i have a question on. i can't get the valve to hold air. i have reduced my end points to what looks right but need to get a better setup for filling the air tank. here is the valve:

You adjust the servo so the inside valve end moves flush with either end of the valve body.

Status: offline 		David - You have to have stop's, (collar's), to keep the drum from traveling too far. If you need a Rhom Air valve, I may have an extra. I have the manual's for Rhom Air's also. You need a copy ? Show's exploded view's, etc. You would probably be better off to just use the Spring Aire valve, simpler, see below.

You have a Rhom control valve in the Speeda. The SpringAir control valve will not work with the Rhom retracts. The SpringAir control valve dumps the air pressure in the down position. If you are talking about the fill valve, the Rhom valve is just a check valve. The early SpringAir valves worked the same way. The pump end that goes in the valve is made of tapered plastic and just slips in the open end of the valve. As you pump the check valve lets the air pass one way to pressurize the system. I prefer the Rhom and early SpringAir fill valve because I mount them in the front wheel well and it is easy to attach the pump.

Status: offline 		Mike, Thanks again for the confirmations. I figured out the inlet valve was a check valve. I should be checking the system this morning. When the seller operated the retracts they were a sight to see. they worked perfectly.

Status: offline 		In many cases to fix those old rhom air valves if they leak pull the shaft out and there is two o rings replace them and put a coating of petroleum jelly on the orings and put it back together. I have and use a bunch of those old valves. Also there is still air up, air down valves you can buy from robart. You can also buy the valve from hobby king.

I use the kids blow bubble formula to check for leaks. You can fnd even the smallest leak with that.

    David, sounds like you got your fill valve figured out. I was in the same boat as you. I have a Tipo I'm resurrecting with Rhoms'. Once I realized the fill valve was just a free floating check valve with no springs I cleaned it up and lubed it, now it seems fine.
 
    My question is, what adaptor do you use on your pump / compressor to mate with the small Rhom fill valve. It's smaller than a traditional valve stem others use and an odd thread. I've cobbled together a poor solution with a plastic tube thingy but it won't stay connected after about 60psi. Need something a little more professional. Thanks

Status: offline 		Spring Air sells a Schrader fill valve that has a screw on connector. Again I prefer the early Spring Air (or Rhom) aluminum valve that uses the slide in plastic fill probe.

Status: offline 		Eric, that's exactly what came with the plane (a plastic tube thingy). and yes, it quits holding on at about 40 psi. i haven't got a support cradle built yet that will hold the wing along side the fuse while i view the air valve working so i haven't got to testing yet. eventually, though, I need a better air admittance connector.

Status: offline 		Hi, Guys. I thought someone took over the Rhom air gears and made them under a different name. Could be wrong on that though. Actually any of the Robart air up-air down valves work with the Rhom retracts just as well as the Rhom valve, maybe better if you use the Robart variable rate valve.

Thaks for the info on Rhom Air and Spring Air. I was asking about them because I have a number of sets of both and need some parts for them. I am like some of the others, I use robart valves for my robart and rhom air stuff.
