I just received my kit from Scaledynamics@yahoo.com this has got to be the finest glass work around! Everything molded in...panel lines, rivets, doors, raised panels, scoops, and cowl is same way! Foam wings that have precut ails, flaps, servo openings, has optional glass center section with everything..panel lines, rivets, gas cap etc. I have never seen a better glass job. PLUS you wouldn't believe how light this is!! I could go on and on, but check this out foryourself at Scaledynamics@yahoo.com or ck out the pics at New products and manufactures news site!!!!

Hey Gluefinger, just rec'd my AT-6 also. You are certainly right with regards to the fine glass work. I could not believe the level of detail myself. Hope the rest of the AT-6 lovers will inquire into this product. Glad I made the choice to purchase one.

What a class act!! I just got through driving hours to pick-up a plane that I bought from Dave, and couldn't wait to get home and post my experience.... His shop is full of award winning aircraft (museum quallity), I wanted to buy them all.... He is a very professional builder and so full of information, I couldn't believe it.... He showed me this T-6 kit that he has been designing and developing for years now and has finally completed for his customers.... The fuselage is so detailed with panel lines, rivots and is so feather light in weight, it was hard to believe that such a large plane could be made so light and look so fantastic.... Actually, the quallity of the whole kit is remarkable!! I have been in the hobby for about 30 years now, and was very impressed.... If you are lucky enough to purchase one of these fine kits you won't be disappointed....
Dave...... Thank-You for such a beautiful aircraft that I can be proud of!!

it's just a remake of the midwest kit

I've built 3 Midwest AT-6 kits. I'm guessing I have about 1500 hrs. in construction on that kit alone. I've experimented with engine size, CG, building materals, finishing techniques, and plan modification. You could say I know my way around the Midwest AT-6.

After all these years I feel like I've been ripped off. Every time I open a new kit box all I get for my $240.00 is a bunch of sticks, some plastic and a set of plans. It doesn't look ANYTHING like THAT.

Besides, it says "Scale Airfoil and Fully Symmetrical Horizontal Stabilizer" Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall the box of wood having those features.

It's just my opinion, but I have to say, the guy that built the fiberglass/foam kit must have done his homework.

The full scale AT-6 has a wingspan of 42ft.,7in.
The model has a wingspan of 83in. That makes it a true 1/6 scale model.
If someone is making a 1/6 scale model, it HAS to be 83" regardless of the kit manufacturer.

To say it's a "remake" is pure ignorance.

Fast Freddy

Dave,

I'm getting into the building season out here in MI. so I'm looking for another project. I'll be out in LA during the weekend of January 18th. I understand the AMA show is in Ontairo the same weekend. I'll plan to attend. Will you be there? I'd like you to put my name on one of the kits. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Fast Freddy

question for "FreddyFlyFast".. Just finished a Midwest 83" AT-6. Never having experience with gas engines, I have a question you maybe able to answer...I built the plane according to the plans. The firewall has no off-set to achive the 3 degrees right and 3 degrees down thrust. My engine(26cc gas) sits on off-sets. The plans show an engine on typical engine mount for a glow engine. That wouldn't present a problem but I am using off-sets....If I place washers behind the off-sets next to the fire wall to achieve the proper right and down thrust, I am afraid the difference in height of the off-sets will cause me to break one of the mounting tabs from the backplate either from tightening or engine vibration..How did you achieve the called-for angles? Or can you ignore either the right thrust or the down thrust or both??

Since "Freddy" only posted 4 messages in 2003 I'm guessing you won't hear much from him.

Make a wedge shaped piece from plywood and put it behind the standoffs.
