I am running the DS090 servos buy HD power. As stated in the earlier posts, they seem to be working flawlessly and have super fast speed. Go to www.redwingrc.com and look at their videos. You will see a comparison to Hitecs. IMHO Hitec 7985 are way over kill for a plane of this type.

I guess if you are a 3d monster than go for it. The Hitec 5645 are nice servos, but a little slow IMHO

I agree with the overkill on the 7985's I'm running the 5645's with a LiFe battery which helps speed them up a little actually the LiFe batteries increase speed by 10% over the 6 volt specs, but for my skill level the speed differance shouldn't really matter.

Should be ready to maiden in a few days then I just need a chance to get out to the field.

I was thinking of the 5646's.... The price is right, thats for sure....I do have a couple of 5625's that would probably be for the elevators.

Yes, I agree that they are a bit slow, and I also agree that for my skill level also, they work well, but running them on 6v should get the speed up. I didn't realize I had purchased a 4.8 pack(just didn't pay attention at the time),lbut the jump from 4.8 to 6 usually makes a huge impact on servo speed!  I am used to running Futaba servo's so this honestly, is my first experience with Hitec is probably 10 years or more, but they seem to fly well enough for what I am doing and basically the need to get used to the plane.  I am simply, I believe, going to transfer one of the receiver packs from one of my other planes to this one( as long as the maH is high enough for my satisfaction).

Also, question for you guys, have you checked out the difference in the manuals from what comes in the box(at least my box) and the ones from Hobbico/DLE website?!  It is utterly amazing the amount of information they give you in the revised manual.  The one that came in my box was like some kind of little flier that, yes, gave the replacement plug for example, but the one from Hobbico and the website, gives "EVERYTHING" you would possibly need for any airplane!  I downloaded the one for the 30cc and also the 55, as I will probably be upgrading my 1.60 to a 55 eventually.  If you got the simplistic flier, I would highly recommend checking on the DLE website(not DLE USA, but the one that shows two engines on the main page and is primarily grey and red in color) for your manual.. It will make things much, much easier to say the least!

I setup the plane on the balance buddy with everything installed to see where to place the receiver battery and it came in balance perfect so guess I'll mount the battery at the balance point. If your wondering what that is hanging from the prop its an allen wrench that weighs the same as my spinner. Good job Aeroworks!!!

Just for info, I mounted my receiver battery 1700 mah LIFE battery just in front of fuel tank on the side of the fuse. The battery weighs around 3.2 grams and the plane flew great. The plane was slightly nose heavy instead of neutral like yours. Good luck on maiden.

HelividD,
Thanks for posting the info on the DLE-30 Manual from Hobbico. I am in the process of putting an Aeroworks 540 together with a DLE-30 for power. Reading the DLE manual it states that all radio equipment including the throttle servo should be kept at least 12 inches away from the engine. The throttle servo on this airplane is way closer than 12 inches! I assume that the problem is associated with the ignition module and that is only (2) or (3) inches away on the other side of the model. Maybe there is no issue with 2.4ghz? I noticed a picture in this thread somewhere where the ignition module was located on the same side as the throttle servo which puts it right on top of the servo. Is this something I should be concerned with?

I really like the look of this plane but what is the AUW coming in at with the DLE 30?

I recently lost my 80" Geebee due to an electronics failure and need a new home for my SPE 43, would this just be way too much motor for this plane?

Thanks

I wouldn't be at all concerned if you using 2.4

Waiting on some parts and engine. Was going electric but decided to go gas instead! What batteries are recommended? 2 6v, 1 a123,etc?

I'm going with the Xoar 19x8 from what I read it's the way to go. I think the higher altitude guys may need a little less prop.

This is a pretty good thread on props for the DLE 30

No I havent read the last 8 pages........Time is very limited for me on here, with a job, house, family, etc.....Thanks for your very intelligent reply. I think you meant ''wondering'', not ''wandering''.Spell check is free.....I've came here on RCU asking questions and answering others for years, never got a stupid reply like that. Thanks for your valuable input.

Not sure where your coming from there dude. I didn't read that in the context you did obviously. I think he was truly just curious if you have read the whole thread, he has spent some time on this thread with good and lengthy post, to share his experience with the build of the first run of this plane.

Maybe I did read it out of context. IF he was truly curious if I've read the whole thread and not trying to be a smarta**. Then I apologize for my rude remarks...To tell you the truth, I havent read the whole thread only bits and pieces ........I think I better take the time to go through the thread.
Thanks.
