I used a xoar 20 x 6 with very good results, aand the same servos. For batteries I used Hobbico 2s life 2100 unregulated with no problems and just 4.8 nimh on the ingnition.

Many of us have tested various prop combos with the DLE30. The final verdict seems to be that the best pull and braking comes from the Xoar 19x8. I can tell you that I lift off and can go vertical out of site. It always brings out the hoots and hollers from the pit area! haha

For batteries, I use a HydraMax 4.8V 2000mah for the ignition. I had popping and missing when I used a LiPo and regulator. Since going back to the 4.8V, not one pop or miss. It's perfect.

For receiver I use the LiPo from Fromeco with a regulator from Smart-Fly. Again, it just works perfectly.

My set up is as simple as it gets because I'm a simple minded sucker. Nimh 4.8v 2000mah on the ignition and Nimh 6v 2000mah on the receiver with a rxcel kill switch. I flew eight flights sunday morning and had plenty of battery to spare. I could have gone with a smaller ignition battery. I have a 19*8 xoar sword. The black prop looks cool. Had to change the tail wheel to cf my other developed a crack right behind the last bolt. Ended up with a 5% rudder to elevator mix to help ke. This is a fun plane and the dle is runnin like a top. Couldn't ask for better.

I believe I have over 300 flight on my plane. I broke the motor on a 19X7 Xoar beach prop. After about a gallon, I changed to a Xoar 19X8 laminated prop. The plane has great verticle as well as breaks well on the down line. The reciever is powered by a life 2100 mah battery and the ignition is powered by a 1600 life with no regulator. I believe I was getting six plus flights on a single charge with quite a bit left as a safety margin. One thing to consider is the type of servos you are going to use. If you use digitals, they use a bit more juice than non-digitals. It would be a crime to not put high end digitals in this plane.

I also now will be using a 2100 LiFe for the Rx and 1500mah for ignition now that I see it's working for others well.

So I will be using Hitec 5645's(in the mail) so those that have used them do they come with the proper servo horns that I'm going to need or am I going to have to buy different servo horns?   Thanks

My hitec 5645 servo's came with nylon and a blue metal servo arm. The nylon one's have been working for me great.

Well guys, I got lucky.
AeroWorks is sold out of this airframe so I had started to look for alternatives.
This morning I decided to head out early for Toledo and catch a ball game tonight. Not being in any great hurry I dropped into a hobby shop ( Skycraft Hobbies) along the way.
Tucked away in the back corner of the store was a unmarked box, since they had other AW airframes in stock I pulled it out only to find myself a 30cc AW Edge 540.
I couldn't stop grinning and it only got better. I inquired about the present Toledo sale offering 20% off and the guys there matched the sale price.
I couldn,t believe it, well I turned around and drove home to inspect my new plane.
It looks awesome, I'll get some weights tonight and post them here.
A Saito 180 is going in mine, so I'm hoping for 10lbs even AUW.

Dave, Thats good to hear i wasent sure if you were going to find one in Canada!!

I just recived mine today, and ofcoarse its a fairly big box, so anyone thinkin of getting one shipped keep in mind the dimesions on the Shipping Box are 20"(W) X 13"(H) X 55" (L), for me it was worth the $50 shipping as i would have been a 12 Hour round trip to pick it up.  I just got it unpacked and took a look at everything and took a peak at the DLE 30cc  too. Looking forward to the build, but still im waiting for shipments from Aeroworks and another place to complete everything. I also built a Plane stand out of PVC which i found plans for online, i think its gonna be real helpful.

Heres a couple pics;

I have a question. I took my muffler off my dle 30 and the dang exhaust gasket came off in about four pieces. Went to the auto shop and the only gasket material they had he didn't think would stand the heat very good. Anybody have any idea's on a replacement?

you can buy every gasket and part for the DLE engines on towerhobbies, but I use high temp RTV and it works fine. Local auto parts store has it...

Guys with DLE 30CC, i tried to mount engine tonight i drilled the hole 13/64 as per addendem, but i could not find any of the Black mounting bolts that mount from inside the firewall to the DLE standoffs? there are 4 bolts in the AW kit bit they are too small, and the definatly are not in the DLE kit, the only bolts in the DLE kit were the (4) stainless ones for mounting from engine to standoff/supports , can someone shead any light to this, am i missing them or something.

Thanks

Derek

Just finishing build everything went really good, im just at the point of putting the decals on it, when i took apart the decals package there was only one full length piece of Transfer tape, and that piece isnt even long enough to do the biggest EDGE wing decal??? am i missing somthing or is this tape something im supposed to go track down and buy myself again?

Thanks

HAHA!.   As I have been following this thread because I am planning on doing a 30cc build (this being the most likely), I wondered why this QB kit is made so well and is such an easy build;  why do they make the decals so hard to apply?  Yeah, I've read the manual and addendum multiple times, and I've thought, "who makes decals that aren't made with cut-out transfer tape already applied on top of them???"

Plane is easy to build.......the decals....well; get ready to pull your hair out!

Strange.

Jeremy

I completely agree about the decals. They are a serious pain. Takes longer to place them correctly than it did to build the plane. I didn't even use some that I was going to because my transfer tape wore out. I have been flying my plane that way for many months and since I like it so much I'm going to  get some custom graphics put on it. This plane is a blast you will love the way it fly's.

Eliminate the decal headaches, and purchase the custom graphics package from Aeroworks.

I went with the B&E graphics on my plane and really like them. Flew eight flights on the edge today and it is rockin. Probably have more than 100 flights and knock on wood the plane is holding up great and the DLE is a great engine. I like it the engine so much I bought the 55cc version.
