Has anyone converted the BH OV-1 Mohawk to glow?
I really like the looks of this plane. I read Rich Uravitch's
re-paint article on his. He seems to think it wouldn't
work, saying the nacelles/firewalls are too weak.
To me, electric prop planes are about as exciting as
 watching paint dry.

I have not seen one yet. But it should be similar to most conversions I would think. Beef up the firewall with a plywood plate, and fuel proof the area behind and where the fuel tanks will be.

It was the last time I checked, but I haven't
checked in awhile. Hobby people carried
 them. I'll look into it, I hope I did'nt miss a
clearance /fire sale on 'em. I'll let you know.

Yes, the Mohawk is still available. I asked the Guy who answered
the phone if he had heard of anyone converting this plane to glow,
his answer was;  "You can't convert electric to glow power, you
can only convert from glow to electric".

You gotta' like guy's like this... they know everything, yet they know
nothing.  You gotta' like proving them wrong!

     Mike,

I believe the prices are the same, except for the instore only/on-line only
sales. I was able to locate one, so I went ahead and ordered it. It was at
a different hobbypeople. It's being sent to my local store in a few day's.
Unfortunetly it was the only one left in the stores. There could still be some
in the warehouse/mail order dept. I would call and check, as the stores
and mail order dept. don't share their stock.

They've been marked down to $122.00, so they've been selling quickly.

I just picked up what appears to be the last OV-1 mohawk at Hobby Shack(I think HobbyPeople sounds lame)
The wife insists that it goes under the Christmas tree as a gift from my kids.  So there won't be any pics
until at least Christmas day.  It looks like the electric to glow conversion is possible, but with some serious
reinforcement needed.  It's built very light and should fly well with .20 - .30 four strokes and 3-blade props.
I'll start the build  as soon as I'm finished with my royal B-17.
