AAAARGH  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOLY ****,  I WANTED TO SEE PICTURES OF FUN !!

The front has got to look bad if it split like that. Wow , don't crank the motor if it got dirt, spray the hell outof it with pb blaster.

Flew alot over the weekend while being bummed about not being able to be a spadfest.
All of a sudden I got good landings, a bouncer here and there in calm no wind situations,
which is weird.

Broke the prop and the carb off. I checked and cleaned the intake and then looked for any wobble, didn't see any. Wing cocked over and tore the fuse up, a more resiliant fuse would have held up BUT it would also have been quite a bit heavier. The wing has a slight tear in it on the bottom. I didn't have a bottom wing wrap but that will be the fix. The spar failed when the wings went forward and it snapped clean. Instead of Nylon bolts snapping off the wing mount 1x4's did.

Stripped some gears in the tail as the controls went over hard but really just need

Carb mount adapter - 8 bucks on the way
2-3 servo gear sets - 15 bucks tops
New coro for fuse - 15-30 bucks (two colors unless I have enough of one)
New prop - 20-30
Switches were destroyed 30 bucks.

A new fuse and we'll be flying again. I don't know how long it will take for me to get to it. Certainly have too much on the plate today but I will see if I have fuse material before I go buy some.

Next time you're flying, just make sure and pay attention. I was in landing pattern, listening to music, watching the team machine take off and doing the bump with Jim of Team Abbynormal and just kinda forgot the first thing. Then it struck me I was doing something and before I could recover I ran out of altitude. Had I been a mistake high I would have recovered with no problem BUT I obviously wasn't. Just had enough time to realize I was making a horrible mistake.

You know, 10 more feet of altitude would have done it.

Noticed the spad repairs bust up alot of stuff vs the smaller ones I have.

I replaced the throttle servo on the spad, it got screwed up on the last crash.

Finally have my 3 planes repaired again. Been flying the nexstar and not motivated to keep spending money on repairs,

did my first bearing bearing replacement over the weekend on a OS 46fx,

watched a youtube video on how to do it.

guess one of the crashes scored the case a little on the front bearing
but i put the new bearing in anyhow.
Almost don't make sense to put alot of repair into the 46 because i bought a good used one for
$50 and the case runs $40.

I've got my fuse to the point I need to glue the tailfins in it. Just gotta put the tailfins together tonight. Then the doublers and this time I'm going to put a third one in there just aft of the servos. There was just a little flex when the servos moved there, not much, but the third doubler won't weigh anything. The Nipples on my Carb are broken off. This is a pain as I can't find a source for just the nipples. There are nipples on Ebay BUT to replace them costs as much as a new carb, when they have them in stock. They both appear to be press fits though so I'm going to see if I can find the correct size brass tube and a little JB weld. Then when the new stock gets in I'll get a new carb for backup. Won't be grounded though as I have a second engine sitting on the bench for parts. Anyways, save a prop, I should have this fuse done and ready to fly again this next weekend. Just depends on how the babysitting schedule goes.

So much for cheap repairs, just like the os stuff more to repair than just buy a good used engine.

Can't get the 46 to run for long. 1st time i can't get a motor to run.
I've fixed old trashed weedeaters and other stuff and I can always figure out what's wrong.
this one is pissing me off bigtime.
Frustrating , new hoses redid gas tank all new blew the motor out with compressed air.
i am going to get a starter, i used regular syn oil to prelube it and i gotta get
some fuel thru it maybe the oil residue is affecting it.

Sorry I haven't been posting, been missing my rc.
Have been trying to get certified to be able to get some welding jobs,
and the last month has been fun with some goofy crap mixed in.
Made a run to get some welding practice in, then went to FL to get a welder.
This Saturday a woman ran a red light in town, and I slammed into her, hard.
A week ago the drive train on my mower decided to destroy itself, too.
Other than that, same as usual !

Wow Joel, that sounds like a typical week for ME as well!  LOL  What a crazy summer.... I've hardly flown at ALL.  The kids start back to school next week so maybe I can sneak off to the field for some "me time".  Hang in there brother!

Been enjoying those USS videos Clean!  You've about got me convinced to order one of those gassers from HK and get started on one of these.    I've got several planes on the bench right now (nothing spectacular) that I want to get finished up/repaired but I think I am *definitely* going to try one of these and use the HK engine you're using.

Pat
