Ok finally some pics of my hybrid Yak from VVRC .... i have hitec 5925 on ailerons(140oz) a 5985(180oz) on elevator, a 5625(130oz) on rudder, and a 225mg on throttle. Im also using a 42% opto engine kill... the first one i had back in 08 took a crap on me... i hope to have better luck with this one. I also decked it out with some aluminum wheels from http://aztechaero.goods.officelive.com/SpotOnWheels.aspx acording to Azahr the owner they will be selling larger sizes soon!

Now maybe my thinking is wrong but between ailerons, elevator, and rudder, I have been led to believe the rudder is the one control surface that should have the strongest servo, especially for 3D type flying. You have the weakest one there (excluding the throttle servo) Wouldn't it be better to swap your rudder and elevator servos in your set up? Just an observation on my part. Of course you should do as you please.

the reason i did it that was, since it only uses one servo for the elev stab, i wanted to use a beefier servo .... if i see that the rudder is inefective ill put a 7985 on it...and swipe one from the throttle on one of my gassers and happily replace it with a 5625 more than sufficient for throttle

Your rudder servo will be fine. I loved mine (for three flights any way) so I know you are going to have fun with yours.

Just wanted to report that my DLE-20 proved to be a great combination in my Pulse 125XT this past weekend. Mine weighs 10lbs 3 ozs dry, has great speed and vertical with an APC 16x8 prop. I need to find a different main gear though as our field is grass and somewhat uneven and the nose over tendancy with the stock gear is pronounced.

Regards,

Clay

Glad you liked it.... The DLE 20 is the perfect replacement for .90 - 1.20 glow engines ,,,,,,,,,,you might want to consider reversing the landing gear... i had to do it on a pulse 60 i had, and a buddies 125 with a saito 150

*edit Just got back from maidening http://www.valleyviewrc.com/Yak%2054%20Pro%20SD%20Model.htm i was amazed at how well it flys. It does a great knife edge, decent snaps, awesome flats pins, and killer knife edge spins. Its deinitely THE BEST profile i have ever flown... not to mention the DLE 20 is perfect for this plane, mine came out at 8.2 #s RTF(no gas) and the CG Jody of VVRC gave me was spot on,, right on the wing tube

Just curious if any one has tried this combo - Seagull Edge 540 60-90 with the DLE20

Specs of the model are:
Wingspan: 68.2 in (173.2 cm)
Overall Length: 60.6 in (254 cm)
Wing Area: 753 sq in (48.6 sq dm)
Flying Weight: 8.4–8.8 lb (3.8–4 kg)
Engine Size: .61–1.00 2-stroke; .91–1.25 4-stroke

I was until recently flying the DLE20 in a Seagull Extra 260 90 having similar specs as above and it was a great combo.

Thank in advance for any tips and pix.

Nobody yet has in this thread, but you'll find 18 hits on such when you search the New DLE20cc gas eng thread.

The DLE20cc gasser=1.20 glow (on steroids), so if it fits you might be good to try it.

Thanx...great to know that it flies well.

What is the CG that you are using ?
Are you using rudder pull pull or the servo at the tail ?
are you using stock U/C or different - I found the stock U/C to be very light and small.

Any more pics of your build will be very welcome....

shoe! That's a relief. If it did not sit on its wheels, hand launching could be tricky...

I am confused here, your plane does not look like this http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SEA4000#quickSupport

Are they not the same?

I am looking at the pictures he posted (post #14) and the ones from the plane's manual. His plane has an engine box that I don't see in the manual's pictures. Am I missing something?

I have an early version and a newer version.  They both have engine boxes but are slightly different.  Are you sure you are looking at the  correct manual as they have a couple different 540's
