I finally flew her today after trying to sell it for a couple months. Yellow kit & gear, 80" span with a G45 and JR radio. No bad habits at all and I now know she's a keeper. It was an easy up and down flight with no trim adjustments.

Hey Todd,

Yep I am going to keep her, the first flight went better than I expected. I use most of the runway to get her up and down. It never wanted to jump into the air. I landed with about 20 to 25 degree flaps and will add more on the next flight. My friend Mike Holt tried to help keep the nerves under control. After the first flight I don't believe I will shake anymore. Need to lean out the G45 on the next flight, it loaded up after I got her up and I think the Zenoah will prove to be a good choice.

Best of luck with your P47. Sometimes it's best not to swim against the current Enjoy your Jug. Pete

Way to go Carey! To help short field landings, Try a 22x6/10 prop. This will act as a big airbrake. With this set-up you will be able to get the '47 in and out of any field. Keep those jugs flying!

Carey...Nice looking P-47.......As far as Warbirds go...the P-47 probably is the nicest flying of all.....no bad habits ....and relatively easy on the T/O and Landing........You'll fing it will slow up nice on landings with 40* of flap........Good Luck.....Bill......

Carey,
I got a few questions for you. I also have the same setup, Yellow Jug with a G-45. I will be starting it this winter. What kind and size prop did you use? What servos did you use on the aileron? Did you use the ailerons with the lead in them? Any flutter? How much does your Jug weigh? Thanks in advance! Your Jug looks great, good to hear your flight was successful.

Tony, I am finishing a Yellow P-47 bubble. For the aileron servos I elected to use JR 8411's. Same for the elevator and rudder.. I have a taurus 3.2 for power. I'll post some pics when I get back on it..... Regards BobH.

Jeff,

Yes I'm glad I didn't sell to anyone. Confidence restored, kinda felt like Maverick from the top gun movie for some time. Two planes shy this year and I hope the bad times are over. Tony, no lead on my ailerons and I am using 615mg throughout except on the throttle and valve. No flutter, but I never got it up to full speed as the engine was running a little too rich. Using a 20 x 10, weight is about 23#. Thanks for all the comments and kind words, I think I will have lots of fun with it.
