Has anyone used this module or know anyone that has? Im thinking about putting it in a Futaba t6xa or t6xas. Has anyone tried this? Or are there any recommendations for other routes or modules? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ditto

I have an old Futaba Skyport T4YF that I was thinking of converting. Does this update work well? Any info appreciated.

I have used the frsky DIY hack module. I understand that it has a problem if the PPM modulation voltage goes too high (but so does other brands too).

Read my last post on this thread:

I like the FRsky the best of the DIY modules that are around. There is a thread on RCG about it and it is over 100 pages long.

I believe the PPS problem has sense been resolved. What do people think of FrSky? How well do they work and is the range going to be adequate for full sized models? Any more likely hood that these would fail before say a futaba or spectrum would?

That depends on what you mean by fail. If you're referring to the signal strength or the technology working, it's as good as anything else out there and will fly any typical model around. But you do get what you pay for, and for the price you won't get the same quality as you would from a Futaba or Spektrum 2.4 module. I wouldn't expect it to last as long as those products will, and the fact that it's DIY adds another potential fail point in the system since not many of us are professional electronics assemblers.

I use the Frsky system that replaces the transmitter module on my old Futaba 8UAP, [no wiring required / plug in]. I have been very pleased with mine. Easy binding, easy range check with great range, very good rebind time 1-2 seconds. I use on 40 and 60 size planes. Has fail safe but I have not acctivated yet.

Just installed the FrSky DIY in the T6XA and it Bound first time and works great, was a little hard to figure out the (+) (-) and (PPM) but thought about it and figured it out. Thanks you whoever posted pics, helped A LOT! Put it in (VR8 RX) a Charger RC Fuzion Foamy, just to test to make sure it works good enough for a larger model.

One problem, the voltage on the TX jumps and flutters between voltages, swapped the batteries (also have T6XAs) and still does it. All wires are tight and hooked up rite. It causes the servos to flutter minorly... flys fine, but wondering what it could be. Never checked the TX before the DIY, was in cabinet for years. Anyone have ideas? Thank you!

Hey,

I've converted my T6XA using the FrSky DIY kit today, and have the same problem with the voltage reading (no flutter in the servos though).

I suspect it is due to some discontinueity in the current consumption from the module. I will look into it in the next few days and if I find an answer I'll post it here.

any way, good to know it's probably a problem with the module and not your system.

regards.

Got a reply on RCG, Apparently the power supply to the trainer jack is not good enough for it, heard changing the positive of the module to the "switched" side of the main power or something works? I will report back as well if i try it and it works!

hey,

as it turns out the trainer power line isn't directly connected to the main battery suply. connecting the power line of the module to the switch (see attachment) solved the problem.

had some connectivty issues as well, hope it will solve it as well.

thanks for the reply xxxnt7!
