Default battery and charger match?

I have a 7.2V 270mah battery pack and a ten yaer old Panda battery charger. The charger does not say anywhere what the output voltage or the amprage is. It does have a 0.75Amp fuse on it.
My question is can I use this charger to charge the battery above? And is there a way to find out what the output amps are of the charger?

Thanks for your help, Edessa.

Default battery and charger match?

Panda makes quite a few chargers...we could start with a model number on the charger.

Default battery and charger match?

It is striking similar to the Tower Hobbies charger sold here.

It is an AC/DC charger that is meant for the entry level charging of sub-C cell R/C car packs. It safely fast charges 6- or 7-cell
batteries using a timer. The ampmeter shows charge progress.

This charges at a 5 Amp rate and is not recommended for charging NiMH batteries. The charge rate is not adjustable on this model.

In summary, I would say that you cannot use this on your smaller battery pack because it dumps too much current for those 270mAh cells.

An inexpensive Great Planes DC ElectriFly Peak Charger should work fine for your pack on the 200mA setting.

Default battery and charger match?

Thank you very much for all the info Greg.
I found out that when timer is set at 0 and the charger just trickle charges, the amps are only 300 mAmps. It only goes to 5A when the timer is set to anything other than 0.According to the table below it shoud only take an hour to charge my pack.

The following table shows the estimated time needed to fully charge a variety of battery sizes.

Battery Capacity Charge Rate *Minutes to PeakCharge
110 mAh 200 mA 33
150 mAh 200 mA 45
200 mAh 200 mA 60
270 mAh 200 mA 81
270 mAh 600 mA 27
350 mAh 600 mA 35
500 mAh 600 mA 50
750 mAh 600 mA 75
1200 mAh 600 mA 90

(* Batteries containing a partial charge before being connected
to the charger will reach peak charge in less time.)
