made the firewall, braced it, complete most of the motor mount, firewall and box sheeting are basswood, firewall will be 1/4" ply. Once complete all of it will get a coat of thinned epoxy. Lots of measuring, templates, more measuring to get the thrust angles correct from the original.

Cool

That should be a real beast with the FS52 in there.

im sure unlimited vert, was watching the you tubes and came accross someone who did the 49" edge with the same motor... that what prompted this project. the 52 runs ran nice in my 70" cub but will put you to sleep while flying it, even with floats on it. hopefully this one will raise the hairs on back of my neck.

conversion almost done, need to clean up the cuts on the cowl and add some clearances for prop shaft. The small spinner needed LOTS of work to get to fit the large prop.

tank height adjusted which also made clearance for throttle cable to be perfectly straight. Thinned epoxy applied to everything forward of the wing tube for strength and fuel resistance.

battery mounted

still a little nose heavy, but real close, have to put on the tail linkages yet so I think its going to make it. Lead will be required to move it any further back than 90mm. I think 89mm is the recommended. Hope the gear holds up, seems to flex a bit when sitting on the ground. also the gear mount will get some attention, needs some more meat down there for the weight increase. Right now, it 4lb even, going to be just a hair over.

It happened wednesday, the gear ripped out on landing. This about the 4th out of 5 arf's I had to do a similar repair to. Rock solid now. Just waiting for good weather to get some video. Seems like every day I can get to the field its mostly cloudly and blowing 10 to 15. Oh well, its early spring, what can you expect.
