Looking through the menus, after turning on the radio, here is what you see:

Main Screen (push the scroll bar).

Servo Setup. This is nicely packaged as on single item. Once this is selected, you can adjust servo travel, Reverse, Servo Speed, and Sub Trim. The nice part is you can view and test the actual movement on the left portion of the screen simultaneosly while making adjustments.

Next, after Servo menu is the D/R (Dual Rate) and Expo item. Again, like the servo item, all dual rates and expos are set from this selection. Very easy and intuitive to see the results immediately on the nice dual screen (the curve shows up on the left side of the screen). Very easy to set up your rates. I use the term dual rates in the common language terms, they are actually 3 position switches (triple rates on each switch) with flight modes- very capable but we'll explore that more later.

Picture of D/R screen.

Next is my favorite, the throttle curve. Very capable and allows you to adjust the throttle up and down so you have a linear feel. Now, I know on my Passport which is powered by E-flight 160 has a lot of power at the top of the stick. I put in a bow curve shaped throttle curve, which moves the low end up and curves it flatter toward high throttle. Also, the way the motor puts out so much power the prop actually gets about 94 db so I used the throttle curve to limit full throttle throw, which keeps the sound down (rather than the travel adjust in the servo menu). This makes sure that the high end limit is not automatically re-set to 100% each time the speed controler is powered up.

Next is the selected item for mixes. The radio has ail/rudd built in, plus 6 more mixes taht have the rates, offset and switch (on/off) all on the same screen, again with the servo movements shown on the left side of the screen so you can see the servo movements on the Tx real time. Very nice feature.

Don

P-mix with rudder to aileron and rudder to elevator. I really like the servo movement bars on the left. You can check movement immediately to make sure you have the mix going the right direction. In the past I'd have to turn on the plane and check directions that way. The DX8 has this feature all on the same screen. I really like this setup.

And the back-lit screen helps setup in low light environments.
