Looking ahead: Does anyone know of a source for a MK V spinner? The Trapplet one looks like crap.

Cheers

Which Mk.V spinner? There were several different variations. For the shorter and more blunt types the Brian Taylor Typhoon spinner is pretty close to a 1/5.5 scale Spitfire spinner.

I'm doing the BT Mk VIII next, I'm getting ready to look now myself...I'll report if I find any good sources.

That's the one that looks like it is poor quality.

My BT spit is looking for a matching spinner too. It is an odd size. I have standard spinners of most sizes and could not get one to fit.

One would think that there would be options available for this popular design. Maybe Tru Turn and custom make one.

A buddy of mine needed got a quote on a custom spinner from Tru-Turn....$800!!!!! This was around a 6" spinner, obvisouly not exactly 6", or he would not need a custom spinner.

There are a couple of guys running them on the Taylor Typhoon over at RCSB and I have not read of any issues.

I've posted the question to a builder on another "scale builder" type site. I'll let you know if I get any info.

Moggy,

I got my 1/5 from Dave Platt. for $50-60 3 years ago. Flying scale spinner is resin with alum backplate/groove and screw in the nose. http://www.daveplattmodels.com/Short%20Kits/index.htm

Another source is Richard Rawle in UK. http://rawleaviation.blogspot.com/p/accessories.html
Check out his 1/3 scale Spit.

Phil

Not in my book, that's why I have three of them and looking at #4. Well Chaps. I took a $46 risk and ordered a Mosquito spinner from Traplet and I will report back once I receive it. We probably won't know much until it sees the business end of a 3W50.
