Jeff really does nice work! This plane is so nicely scaled. They panel lines, rivets and hatches are great. The plane comes primered and ready to paint. The plane was expertly shipped in well constructed crates and arrived perfect. Here's what it looks like out of the crates:

Nice stuff and they work great. I have the Dubro 5.5 inch wheels on them. Decent looking wheels and very light weight.

Need more time to work on plane, but work keeps getting in the way

Hoping to get this plane done before summer so I can fly it a lot. Just got my motor back from Horizon so it's all tuned up and ready to go. The electronic ignition system was leaking and causing a lot of interference with my receiver.

I like the rad nose and tail and the nose art looks great too. Also, Aeroloft sells the dry transfer decal set for this plane.

Status: offline 		Yeah ... they were one of the toughest planes out there along with the Hellcats.

There's a great P-47 training video of them showing how you can't even ground loop the plane and shows a pilot hit full right rudder on the runway going about 35-40 mph and brakes on the right side only and the plane just does a 360 and stops.

It's pretty amazing that it doesn't flip over. Nice to have the wide gear stance like that!

A guy stopped by the field one day and told us about flying in the pacific during the war in P-47s and said his group was returning from a mission and all the guys were running on fumes and were told to get down ASAP and off the runway quickly as possible. The guys were landing and turning off into the mud and sinking up to the axels in the stuff. He saud it took them a week to dig all the planes out but none of them flipped over.

Status: offline 		It's not a set of Glennis wheels... These wheels weigh 8.0 ounces each. Weigh the dubro wheels and I bet they weigh the same.

If you want the lightest wheel then go with a Yellow Aircraft 5" wheel. They weigh 4.5 ounces each. Hub and tire.

You chose Sierra gear, which is the best, not the lightest though.

Your Bird is still gonna weigh in at 30 pounds no matter what wheel you use.

Status: offline 		Jeff, don't pay any attention to Kirk...there is no way your Jug will be 30 pounds....

The proto was 27 with the G-62 crammed in the nose, and a sizeable lead ingot to boot. Your bird will be much lighter in the derrier, so you won't need the added weight as ballast in the beezer....

Status: offline 		I didn't say that 30 pounds was heavy for that bird... It will fly great at 27 pounds (projected).
It is like asking a woman what she weighs...(alot less than listed on the box).

The specs on a SisT FW-190 say it weighs 19 to 22 pounds. That is what it weighs if you don't put a motor in it.

Status: offline 		What ever it ends up weighing it will be perfect

I am shooting for around 23-24, if it ends up more I can get a larger engine. I have a nice DA-50 that would make it scream. The little Saito puts out as much power as a G45 and is much smaller. I just need to keep the tail light and move everything up front as far as possible so I don't have to add lead.
