Doc's ziroli P-40.
Dave's firefly: Carl built it.
103" tigercat's tail fell off after landing (amazing what 30 seconds difference can make!).

Greg's A-10.
A couple of very large T-33's.
One bellied in twice but no damage.
Close up of tigercat, minus tail!
Several huge jets were there.
Scratch built albatros.

Some more carnage: Gary's comparf F4U ran into the tail of another plane.
Our Friday night meal was served by nice 'eye candy'!

Hey Sammy! 18 hrs.....not bad buddy. You sure you weren't going faster than 55??? I had a really good time, just wish the weather would of cooperated for us to get more flights in.
It was still a bunch of fun and all the guys down here really enjoyed getting to meet you. Hope we can do it again.

Thanks for posting all the pictures and videos. I know it can be a lot of work so I thank you for doing it. Also thanks for all the help you gave me with the big P47 and with Franks'. You made picking up the trailer a much easier experience as well. The family said it was nice having you here and you are welcome anytime! You must of paid them or something....it's rare they say anything at all about my friends when they stay over.

Good luck building this winter, I'll be watching as usual. Looking forward to our next get together.

Your friend,
Scott

A rare site! Sam with money in his hands.

Hey Sam,

Thanks for all the nice pics and congratulations on the maiden on the Corsair.  I know you will sleep better now that that is done.  Looks like it flies great.  I should have my Waco done the next time we see each other.  It's a shame about the two Bipes but that happens sometimes when we push the limits.

Hope to see the Ohio gang sometime this winter.

Sam, just wanted to say it was a pleasure getting to tent and pit next to you at Monster. Always nice to have a face to go with the name and all the post on RCU. Looking forward to the next time we are at an event together.

Thanks for all the nice comments.
It's been another great year.
I really enjoy going to new flyins as well as the ones that I've been to.
I get to see old buddies and meet a lot of new pilots.
I get to see planes of very high quality that are flown by pilots with a lot of flying skills.
It's always fun flying at new fields as I'm impressed by the number of really nice runways at all the clubs.
During the summer, I've learned a lot on building planes as well as flying them.
The camaraderie with all the pilots is great and will motivate me to build new planes over the winter and to look forward to a new season in 2012.

ps: hey Rick, I googled your town and there really is a fuquay-varina, NC!
It'll be hard for you, this winter, to top your jungmeister.

range checking new planes:

flight log (data log);
I rotate my plane 90 degrees each time (for a full 360 check) to check surface movements while the engine is running. Dino had an additional check that I hadn't thought of: put the flight log in the receiver (on JR radios) after the rotation and check the voltage, fades, frame losses and holds, which is a much more accurate way to proper range checking.

It was a pleasure to meet you Sam. I ironic we met so far from Ohio. I hope to be able to attend some closer events together in the future. Your planes are wonderful and you are a pleasure to be around.

We also use the data log and have had good results with it. It DOSE NOT LIE. I have moved satellite receivers due to it's data.

Gary

Rick, congratulations on taking the critic's choice award...very well deserved. Your Bucker is awesome and very well flown.
I'm in S. Dakota right now, three more days to get home, and then start thinking about this winter's project.
I have one in mind, very slow, 1/2 scale, butt ugly, not radial powered, but a flat twin, I just happen to have the plans and an ex British military target drone engine......
Hope to see you again next year,
Cheers,
Dave.

Yo Scott,
Yep, just 55 MPH but it gets me about 17 MPG with my 325 CI engine pulling a large trailer: with a 34 gallon tank, I only had to stop once (half way point) on the journey (I had a whole 4 gallons left when I got home).
Thanks for sheltering me during my visit.
You have a great family: kids usually like me because I'm on the same intellectual and emotional level as they are!

Those Brits know how to put on a full size air show!
It looks like they have at least one of every plane that flew in WW II!

Boy, your not kidding. And most planes there was more than one of. What a treat to be at such an event. I would have gone through several camera memory cards.
