Status: offline 		I also have the Saito 300 twin dual carb but Im leaning more towards a gas engine like the FG 57 version. Id like to see this combo run before I decide to keep or sell the engine. I wonder if it has enough power to fly the plane with authority not just put-put around.

Status: offline 		Guys, the G62 has more than enough power to fly the Sist 190 with authority, A g45 would fly it fine too. I use a three blade prop to slow mine down a bit. I have around 70 or so flights on mine now and it has held up well. Some tips to increase durability are to exchange the aluminum down links on the gear for steel ones, Darrell should be able to supply them. Any side loads on landing will bend the aluminum ones badly. I also layered the inside of the spinner cone with a layer of carbon fiber as the fiberglass spinner is very thin and will flex around the cut outs for the prop blades. I built wood elevators and rudder and covered with fabric and used Robart hinges as the stock hinge pin will work in the beginning but will quickly wear out from vibration and get sloppy. I just took delivery of the Sist 1/4 scale 190 A. So look for a build thread over on RC scale builder sometime soon.

Will be looking for your build Evan over on RCSB.

FYI, there's a gent in South Africa flying his Sis-T with the Saito 300 twin. He told me that it flyies it just fine.

greetings from Austria Thanks for all the good information in this thread!

I am currently restoring a used and damaged SiSt FW-190A8 I purchased from a guy who cartwheeled it on landing. For power I spoke to Stephan Siegemund and I am using my FS400AR. After some work on it the engine is putting out just over 4HP, thats a bit more than the G45, and according to Stephan it will be more thank perfect for the plane. I am trying to save as much weight as possible though and am looking towards 26.5lb tops. Some tweaks so far are throwing out the servos from the tail feathers (saves 10,8oz) and redoing the rudder from Balsa (saves 12,3oz).

-Redo rudder AND elevators using balsa and be super-fixated on weigth when doing so.
-Select a light weight tail-wheel solution.

Careful here. I think Evan is referring to the down lock here and not the oleo (scissors?). I can see why the down lock might be an issue if made from aluminum. In fact, I saw one of Evans fail at the WBOTR a couple of years ago. I will have to think of this mod as I am putting this gear in my 1/5th Andersen TA 152. I will have to look at all of the other issues about these gear as well. The tail wheel retract included. While the Sierra seem to be the best thing going, they are not without their faults, it seems.

I am a bit reluctant in making the elevators from balsa just yet. i know of two guys who fly the FW with a seidel 7-70. That engine weighs about the same as the fs-400AR and they both need 500g of lead in the nose. I have saved just the equivalent to that in the tail and I want to check the CG before I have to put lead in the back as there is not much space under the cowl for batteries and stuff with the radial installed. I do have everything here to make them CNC milled by a friend.

wow, thats a LOT! the G62 guys I have talked to need about that but with a much lighter engine...

I have watched your videos on youtube, big complement on the details. I habe taken quite some ideas from your focke wulf. eg the hinged cowl doors!

And 5 K is pretty much only airframe, retracts and scale accessories. Thats not including the Moki that is a possible engine combination and the cost of electronics. Definately the best 1/4 scale FW-190 out there but unless I am discovered by a long lost rich relative it will be forever out of my reach.

Dont forget that 1/4 scale WWII warbirds are pretty big planes.....Back in the times the designers sort of concluded that 1/4 scale was okay for WWI birds, and 1/5 was okay for WWII planes. In the mean time the world has moved on, and in many cases we find that 1/5 is a bit small for even WWII planes.

Therefore, I buildt Roy Vaillancourts ( Vailly Aviation) Fw 190; It is scale 1/4.5, in other words just in between 1/5 and 1/4.

I find 1/4.5 to be a rather nice size for the Focke Wulf. If I'm not mistaken, Petraush (Also Vogelsang, me thinks) is 1/4.5.....but is isexpensive too.

ESM's big 109 is scale 1/4.5....Maybe ESM one day will come with a 1/4.5 Focke Wulf too. Lets face it, a plane of that size, with the Sist or Petrausch detail level and quality of parts is bound to cost mucho dollares.

Status: offline 		I have a friend who has the 1/4 190 from Sis-T. I haven't had a chance to see it yet but I am looking forward to it in the future.

I also know that Stephan has been trying to sell all the molds etc for the 1/5 sized planes. No luck so far in that department. It's a large investment I'm sure.

Status: offline 		Lol. Yea i can imagine, if someone wanted to buy my F14 molds, it would take a big chunk of change. Any idea what stephan is wanting for the 1/5 molds? I would think $10-15,000 would be about right if he has all the cut files for the structure, templates etc.
