The latest firmware version puts the transmitter in a radio waves transmitting mode when the transmitter is switched on. Doing a range check requires that the transmission of radio waves be stopped. How is this done ?

The transmission is not stopped during the range check, the signal strength is just reduced for a short amount of time.

You need to check your user manual to determine how to enter the range check mode and also to see how long it stays in that mode. If you don't have the manual, you should be able to find it on line.

I have the user manual. and the upgrade notes for the latest version. My firmware of my transmitter was recently upgraded to the latest version by the Futaba repair facility.

Page 8 of the notes for the latest version of the firmware says..."The RANGE CHECK screen is displayed. To activate the RANGE CHECK mode select 'YES' and then press the EDIT button". However, the RANGE CHECK screen of the latest version of the software does not have a 'YES' button. It has only a message...."CURRENTLY TRANSMITTING (RF ON). RANGE CHECK IS UNAVAILABLE".

Same question phrased differently........how is the RANGE CHECK activated ?

You hold the dial switch down and turn on the transmitter. The transmitter will then ask if you wish to transmit, select "NO". The range check function will become available in the System Menu.
