I am not aware of any, but the new batch of these nice planes is due here in about a week. They have some significant improvements, they now use double-truss composite control horns and the cowl mount on the bottom is much easier to work with.

Finally half the planes will be available in the Mermaid scheme. So if someone wants to do a build there's lots to talk about.

A new shipment of Sbach 30cc planes is due here in a few days. Changes were few but important. We changed the metal post type control horns to composite double-truss glue in horns, and we changed the way the bottom of the cowl fastens to the fuse, much simpler now.

We also have them in the "Mermaid" scheme as well as the "Thunderbolt" scheme.

Nice planes.

Here's a link to the web site of the manufacturer of the Sbach 342 full scale. The "mermaid" scheme is the orange/black scheme shown on the main photo at the top.

http://www.xtremeair.de/web/342.php

In all the fuss about the Hellcats coming in I have been a bit remiss about the Sbachs. These are absolutely gorgeous airplanes, and the few small improvements have made a big difference in the appearance and ease of assembly/maintenance.

To be honest I always find something I wish I had done differently, but not in this case. It's all there.

Sbach mermaid scheme photos. This one was assembled today from factory stuff.

I have to say this is one gorgeous plane. This is the product of about 6 hours work. I am not quite finished, still need to install the fuel system, throttle linkage, ignition, and the aileron servos.

It looks like I can build one of these in about 8 hours if the phone doesn't ring.

I also interested in this airplane. The video link on WildHare website is broken. Has anyone else take pictures to post or video?

How would you compare this to the WildHare 50cc Extra 540v1 far as slow flight, straight flying hands off/and tracking?

No, it's not. I just used it, the video works fine.

Here's another link though.

http://wildharerc.com/downloads/videos/sbach.wmv

Slow flight will be similar to or better than the Edge v1, tracking should be much better.

Ok here are pictures of my Wh sbach 342 mermaid style, before I start my build so I am posting pics just incase anyone would to see, this is my third wh plane, plane looks nice only one problem one wing has some damage on it, seller says it would cost him to much to replace so he did say he would send me covering for the blemish, I just wish I new my new plane would not be like new, and I was going to receive a blem so my new plane will have patch for all to see. but other them that the plane looks very nice and im sure it will fly nice im just a little salty. But I will try to post pictures as I go thur the build if any one else would like to post their build here they are welcome. so lets enjoy a sbach build if you see a way I can improve this build please feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the pictures. Those of us that are old guys and were once prolific builders like to see the pictures of insides of a plane as well as the shiney outside!

So any further reports. Love the look of this model but a whole season is passing and no further comments?

Tom. Is your version just simply improvement to the Redwing or is it an all togethr different make?
Like the removable stabs and control horn updates.

I have no idea.

I work with my builder and in this case I started with a plane they already had, then added my own touches like the control horns that you mentioned.

I don't know who builds for redwing, I'm sure they buy from somebody in China just like I do.

hi tom .hopefully I'll have some pics to post shortly..the build was easy once I worked out the standoffs.the single prop adaptor that valleyview put on at my request added some length to the shaft.I cut down the bars that come with the dle and used 10-32 thru the firewall.
the biggest problem I have now has been my radio set up.I am using a futaba 7c 2.4 and didnt give any thought about how many channels I needed to include my optic fiber kill switch.so I think I have to go with a separate igntion battery and an onboard reciver battery unless you have another suggestion.I was hoping to eliminate one battery to save some weight but with only a 7c I just dont know how to progam it.I am trying to avoid y harness set ups..

also what can you tell me about switches with regard to amp draw.someone suggested a smartfly??

Certainly all that work making the engine longer then shorter was a big savings over drilling 4 holes in the prop or asking me to do it!

I'm not sure I understand the ignition problem. You will need a channel to control the kill switch regardless of whether you use 1 battery or two.

Use 1 channel for ailerons (with a Y cable), 2 for elevators, 1 for rudder, 1 throttle, and 1 for the kill switch. That leaves 1 open for power. If you want to use 2 power connections (strongly recommended) then you will need to put another Y cable on 1 channel, I usually put it on the rudder channel.

You can power the ignition from the balance lead on the A123 pack, that's how I normally do it.

The kill switch has 2 connections. 1 is for control and that goes to the receiver, The other is for power and should go to the balance lead on the battery.

Nitro,

You mentioned that there was a wing damged. Did you buy this from WH?
And he said it would be too costly to replace but he sent you some covering? Is this correct?

I was thinking of buying one of these but your response to the above will tell me if I will buy from WH.
Thanks,

DD

Tom,
What was the AUW on the Sbach you built for the pictures?
Was that a DLE 30?

Thanks,
DD
