Status: offline 		I just picked up a habu 32 this week, wow this thing looks fun. I also ordered the 8s motor from efflux, so i'll be waiting on that before i can fly her. I just hope my eyes can keep up with it since it has such a small wingspan but im sure its not that bad though. I am going to run a castle phoenix ice 100 esc that my lhs had in stock. I almost have everything I think i'll put in a list below so you guys can remind me if i need anything else. I'm thinking of running a life battery for the radio even though the bec off the esc will power it but I was just thinking maybe a redundant battery for the radio possibly if i can somehow use the bec off the lipo's and then also parallel in a life rx pack too, I don't know if anyones ever done that before or not and if they have how did they, hopefully someone can help with that.

1. Habu 32
2. e-flite 80mm fan
3. efflux mega motor 8s w/heat sink and shaft mod
4. nano-tech 6s 5000mah 45c lipo and 2s 5000mah 45c lipo, and deans series connector
5. castle phoenix 100 ice esc
6. 8 hobbico cs-115 digital servo's
7. hitec optima 7 rx
8. hitec telemtry w/gps, still waiting on their blue release
9. eflite retracts
10. y-haenesses for servo's
11. hobbico life 1100 mah rx battery for rx if i can figure out how to do the redundancy issue above.

I am new to this forum.  I just gave my Habu its maiden and all went well. I am a bit disapointed in the landing gear as I think it is too week for the weight of this plane.  I know the TAMJET upgrade is the solution but i have already spent over $800 on this plane.  $150 for TAMJET gear is too much for me right now.  Was wondering if any one out there had some TAMJETS that they were not using and were willing to sell me for a good deal..  Please shootme an email at partyoffive0608@yahoo.com.  Thanks ! !

Status: offline 		My Take- off roll for the maiden of my habu-32 without flaps was approx. 3/4 the lenght of our grass flying field at Vally Forge. I used no flaps on landing, and the only thing that stopped the ship was the tall grass on the other end of the field. Plane is so fast at full-throtle!

I am just finishing up my Habu 32 and I want to fly it on My JR 12X but I can not figure out how to mix my rudder and steering so the steering is disabled with the gear up.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
I have gotten a lot from this thread, BIG THANKS TO ALL. but I sure could use some help with this mixing.

Status: offline 		Why do you want/need to disable the steering? (the steer rod {or cables} will not move the nose leg when gear is retracted, anyway...servo arm moves, but no big deal)

Status: offline 		I fly an 11X. It was pretty simple to disable the steering with the gear up. Just keeps things from moving around and binding.

Status: offline 		gary41 to answer your questin as to why you would want to mix the steering .....

I went throught this ordeal already with the Habu 32. This problem drove me insane. The reason why you disable the steering with the mix is simple. When I finished my steering in the Habu 32 I noticed that when the gear is retracted and you steer to either side, the servo binds and bends the rod beause there is too much throw when the gear is retracted. This problem does not exist when the gear is down. Now you can fix this by simply decreasing your throw on the transmitter so the servo does not bind , but then you are also decreasing your turning radius on your steering and at the same time your throw on the rudder decreases. So now you have a plane that does not have much throw on the rudder and does not give you good turning radius. NOW,....when you program the steering not to work when the gear is retracted, you eliminate all these problems. You can have a great turning radius on your steering and your able to have low and high rates on your rudder. I have a DX8 and I called Horizon hobby and the tech guy calle me back and went through the steps with a DX8 on how to program my steering mix. When I did this and saw how simple it was I was astonished on how good it worked. If you own a Habu 32, then you have to mix the steering like this. Otherwise, you will have these problems I spoke about.

BILDOR,...

Call Horrizon and have them go through the steps with your transmiter. I am sure they will be happy to show you how its done. Good Luck ! !

Status: offline 		Just got a Habu 32 and I am not feeling good about the MC-35 Servo's so I am taking a chance and setting up with Savox servo's

Anyone ever used these?

I hear from my LHS they are awesome, and they look good.

I have some Hitec micro MG servo's in a PA Extra MX but i am not happy with how they center.....

I am looking for a good metal gear servo for the Habu that will not break the bank

I prefer Digital.....but some features are hard to find in a micro.....

I am using the recommended JR servo on the rudder, of course

Anyone with experience on Savox servos that could weigh in here would be helpful

The reason I switched to HS 85's is they drop right in the servo tray. The savox are really small so the tray needs some work to compensate, and as i was lazy... They fit really well in the wing tho

See now that is what I am talking about - RCU Rocks

Thanks for the tips......I may follow your lead if they do not fit well in the other trays.....as the Hitec's I have are not the end of the world (If they do not center the best)

They also see to perform better under load (The Hitec's)

What ESC should I use?

I am torn between the castle ICE 100 Lite (Less weight) and castle ICE 100 (Has Heat Sink)?

I like the idea of a "Lighter" ESC and have had excellent results from the ICE Lite 75 on 6S in my PA Extra MX......

However 6S 5000Ma is alot of power and I am worried about ANY ESC that goes 100A and does not have a heat sink.....

Also I am going 100A as I am not sure how good the airflow is across the ESC in the stock location on this plane.

Also I am a castle guy (Like the support, software, etc) and they do not make an 80A

Yes, I am going with a 2S A123 of LiFe pack....for the Rx system (Adequate mAh of course)

I think it is safer than even a BEC Pro like I have on my Etra MX.....it also runs on 6S......

But I feel for the Haub 32 being composite, 7Lbs, worth lots, etc.....I will go the extra mile and run a seperate pack.....capable of delivering 20-25 amps which should be more than adequate for all those Savox and JR servos

I would rather have the heat sink for sure....I guess it is not that much extra weight.....

I have flown my Habu 32 about 6 flights on a 6S nano tech 5000. I was thinking of upgrading to a 8S setup for more speed. Any suggestions.

Status: offline 		I would assume he means making use of the extra piece of plastic to fashion a door for the front nose gear. I have thought about doing the same thing over the winter months. One of the contributors has a previous post regarding the same mod. I highly recommend upgrading the landing gear with after market struts if they can be made part of your budget as they are pricey, but, worth it. I have about 100 flights on my Habu as of the end of the season here in PA.

Status: offline 		Yes that is what I'm talking about, is trying to make the nose gear door open and close since someone posted previosly that it would help with the speed, I'm not sure if I'll do it initially or not, I am planning to run 8s with the efflux motor I went ahead and bought, I am going to start out with this setup, this will be my first high speed edf. I feel I have the appropriate abilities to handle the aircraft, I'm also kicking around the idea of getting a turbine one of these days but just can't turn loose the cash yet since that would go a long ways on my full scale pitts 12 im currently beginning, but since my mid air I had this year I don't currently have my medical so not much sense sinking money in the pitts till I get that back.
