Hello,

What are some things I could do to make my T-maxx go faster? I don't want to spend alot of money. I'm going to race my friend who just got the new 2.5 truck...and he doesn't know i'm getting the 2.5...

ps I have the 2.5 engine (coming soon in mail) with the old .15 truck.

What pinon gear should I get and what about the spur gear? Tuned pipe? What's the best for all around performance (i'd like both good low end and high end power) I don't want to do anything much with the gearbox, thinking about FOC. motorsaver air filter? Anything?

Thanks,
Larry

70 or 72 my old tmaxx came with both but i was just looking on towerhobbys and you can get a 68/66/64 so any of these spur gears will make you go faster remember the smaller the spur gear the faster and the oppeset for the clutch bell the bigger the faster. the stock clutch bell is a 20 tooth and spur is a70 or 72 tooth you can allso get some bigger clutch bells ill look in to it for you

changing the gear ratio will improve top speed or accelleration/torque, and hurt the other. are you racing on or off road? how far? if its a track, learn to handle it if you dont have the widemaxx suspension. better air filter, ventilate your body as much as possible, and i think the stock gears are 72 spur and 20 clutchbell. i personally want an 18-19t clutchbell because low end power is more fun than top speed. take your truck to the park or something(but be sure to seal everything and take caution of how tight your airfilter is, etc etc and you will see what i mean. i got the motorsaver filter because the stock one gets dusty way too fast, and it should boost performance too. it will let more air in, so to counteract the added air, you will need to richen it more too, so since it will get more air and fuel overall, in theory it should go faster.... i think oh yeah, get a body and paint it blue, everyone knows that is the fastest color

edit: also, the FOC is an awesome upgrade, it helped so much and is very responsive now. it seems much more powerful since ive installed it. good luck! and remember, if all else fails, run into your friend

haha, thats a good idea, being that he is new he probably wouldn't know how to counter it. Lol.

Ok, thanks.

so if I got the 20 clutch bell, it might not work because it wouldn't fit? Wouldn't i just have to move the engine around. and if need be i could get a smaller spur gear and it would fit.

I'm only going to use this just to race him. It'll be on asphalt, and probably a small road course. After i race him i'll go back to stock spur and clutch bell. Unless i like it that way. I'll mess around and see whats best.

Thanks,
Larry

changing the clutchbell and spur gear will still fit, you just gotta set the gear mesh by moving the engine mount screws ont he bottom of the chassis until it meshes correctly.
