ive git a question, i have been looking into desiging a body and making a plug so i could make multiple bodies incase i ruin a few. i have seen this process before and am cusrious as to how to do it. is there some special program you have to design the body in and then it send it to some type of machine that cuts the foam slices into the correct shapes?? the body design looks great, i personally would like a lower roof line, guess thats my exoctic car appeal comeing out haha. progress looks great cant wait to build my own 1/5 scale trophy truck, as your first version inspired me

Thanks for your comment!

Because we built the whole car in Solidworks we had an exact3d model of the car. We export this complete car into Autodesk 3ds max, because you can create a much organic surface/mesh with more freedom than in Solidworks. When we were satisfied with the result we created a version that we wanted to see on the desk in real life (so we needed some extrusions to the bottom, to stand by it's own). We found a script that sliced up the whole mesh with 20mm distance. Then just exporting left.
Each line had to exported in a specific format (DXF) so a water cutting machine could cut them out.
You can see these cuts in the images
this is the process in an image:

do you think it would be possible to send it to a plotter to make the cutouts in paper as templates and then cut each piece out by hand, (yes it would be time consuming but i dont have access to a water jet ). also do you know of any type of free program that could be used instead of solidworks?

Guys from MeshData System visited us yesterday and we talk through some things about our partnership. We also made an agreement about the development of our own servo! It will be heavy-duty, strong and fast! A very exciting 2 months coming up!

Is this going hand in hand with the words "reasonably priced" maybe? I think the world is hungry for a whooping powerful servo, but without the price of a Tonegawa or similar.

Yes, we would like to hold the price as low as we can, the parameters of the servo for the Mammuth: 165kg-cm rotating torque, 0.2sec / 60degree, 12V and with the worm gear system the holding torque will be much more (it holds until it not break ).

There is a lot of torque to get from the worm gear, so that sounds like a good idea. Some great datas on this servo here! I guess you have to go for 12 volt to get these parameters, the 6 volt seems to "give up" over about 30 kg+plus without getting too slow.

The Mammuth will have a 12V system, thats why we use this voltage, if the prototype will be good, we will plan different type of servos with different voltages, ratios and torques.

Ok, sounds good! Looking forward to see more of the development of these servos, when looking at the car i am sure the servos will be top notch, and as a bonus, also bombproof

Mammuth Servo prototype renderings:

Planned properties:
- 165kg-cm rotating torque
- much more stall torque, thanks to the worm gear system
- 0.25 sec / 60 degree speed
- 12V, 8A
- telemetry:
- motor temperature
- motor load, torque
- applied output torque
- overload protection
- signal position / potmeter position

Lars from Norway: I've some news about the price of this beast servo, if everything going well, it will be available about 380-400$ in small production
