Superstick,

Actually, you don't glass the wing in, you glass the wing surface. The wing is bolted to the fuselage. Take a look at Banks' pics and you can see them doing it.

OK...I know this is off topic, so please keep the flak to .30 cal. browning machine gun fire...or smaller . Anyway, Shaun....I heard a cool rumor about Yellow......that being that they may be developing a B-25 kit. Can you confirm or deny the speculation? This would be a nice compliment to the P-38 kit. for a nice twin. Now, back to the P-40, which looks to be a nice kit. Two of my friends have them.

Here's an idea; Yellow Aircraft F4U-4 Corsair! with molded glass center section of course. Like the Byron only closer to scale.

Yak,

It's more than an idea............;-) And, if it does happen, it will probably be big enough for Branded too......

I'll probably keep my old Meister Corsair (100" / G62 / Robarts) but I'll keep my YA P47, too (84"? / US41 / Robarts.) I put up with the various loosenings of the Robarts, never been a show-stopper. I like both planes, but the Jug will do nice 4-point rolls, and I can't seem to do that with the F4.

Shaun, thanks for your contributions. By the way, the builder chose the YA Jug because of the scale outline. Don't ask me, I just bought it from him after he got bored with flying single engine.

This thread got me thinking maybe I should try a P40, and maybe some of them YA retracts....

Good luck,
Dave Olson

I was tempted to start a whole other thread just for the new comers, but.....

Here are some pics of a Yellow P-40 being built by Scott Dog, here in Southern California.

Its a nice little plane, (little being relative to my current fleet), this one will have a 4.2, and will surely be a scooter.

Juvatwad,
a beast is correct, that is my1/3rd scale Golden West Models A-37 Dragonfly, that is undergoing rebuild and repair. I will return it to the skies as a T-37 Tweet Jet Trainer. I am trying to shave weight and simplify its appearance by removing all of the Dragonfly features.

YellowAircraft,

Personally I'm glad to see representitives of manufactures here. In another post a guy reported the seam in the leading edge of the fiberglass wing partially split during a routine landing. The guy he got the plane from posted in less then 12 hours that the manufacture assured him it was a one of a kind fault and that he would replace the wing on his dime including freight. That's the kind of service you get when manufactures and their reps keep up on boards like this.

As to your P-40 kit, I've been following the other thread on the guys building the 3 P-40s of yours. Additionally I've visited your website and looked at your kits myself. It appears your kits are nothing but the finest quality, beautiful glass work and flawless craftmanship. If I were to find fault with your kits it would be that you've done almost to much work for your customers. Much of the hard work of building a Warbird is already done Unfortunatly your kits are a little out of my price range as I'm just getting back into the hobby. However your P-40 kit is definately going on my wish list.

Anyway please continue to stop by these forums and keep us up to date on whats going on in the Yellow Skunk Works.

Shaun, I agree that your comments are welcome in the general forums. Who better to comment on the prouduct than the man who sells them. One thing I would like to see on the Yellow website is a price list. Its nice to have there to compare when planning a new project. Don

You got that right Pittsdriver! I know for a fact I'd have already taken the plunge on a couple YAs if I knew what I was buying and what it was all going to cost including shipping. Sure I can call them with dozens of questions, write down everything they tell me, then hang up, decide and call back (or not). But I've noticed that my buying all takes place on sites I can click the "buy now" button and see the total cost before I pull out the plastic.

Yellow Aircraft: If you're going to have a website, have a WEBSITE! The orders will increase and the phone will stop ringing all the time.

I for one am happy to see the response by yellow. What is the problem with getting different views on the subject including the manufacturers. I wish more of them would jump in. What are we afraid of here ? I have been eyeing the Yellow P-40 for some time and perhaps some day can get one by the other half :-)
