MAYBE, they are doing a re-design of the wingtips? The leading edge at the tips NEEDS to be ROUNDED (as viewed from above/ below).

Right, Luke?

mike early -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (6/29/2011 1:23 PM)

I am not loving the look of this TF ARF so far. :(

You are absolutely correct CJ, the wingtip is the wrong shape front and back, but just rounding the leading edge area would be a huge improvement. I think this would be a great candidate for a bash, maybe a birdcage canopy and scale tail wheel with some sanding and paint and it would look pretty cool.

mikes68charger -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (7/22/2011 2:28 AM)

Hey guys,

I lost my Top Flight Gold Corsair last year and I have been missing it ever since.

I lost it on its maiden take off.

Anyways, the wife has given me the ok to get another larger corsair.

I wanted to know how would you compair this to the ESM Corsair?

I liked my kit becouse it was fiberglassed I don't like the cheap look of covering.

Im likeing this ARF, but I cant belive its only got a 65 in wing span, I sware it was a huge bird!

Since I got a DLE 30 in my CMP 120 Spitfire,

a Hanger 9 .60 Miss America p-51 with a OS 1.20 2c
a Hanger 9 .40 p-51with os .91 4c

If I got this corair it would have to fit a DLE 20cc
I know the Hanger 9 Corsair takes a DLE 20 with no lead in the tail.

I just cant belive the price
Topflight ARF
$400 for this corsair  $250 for DLE 20cc, $250 for Seirra Retracts = $900 not accounting servos and reciver wich I got laying around.

Or

$330 for ESM 74in corsair, $285 for DLE 30cc, $285 for Seirra Retracts = $900 not accounts servos etc...

What you guys think?

gibatta -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (7/22/2011 1:16 PM)

Mikes:

You can go down a little bit on pricing by using robart instead of sierra on a Topflite http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXES85&P=ML

CorsairJock -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (7/22/2011 1:45 PM)

Uh oh, I smell a retract debate coming on. Sorta like Ford and Chevy and Mopar.

I know this much: when my Robarts become damaged: I can repair them myself, and usually while I'm still at the field/ flying site. When CenturyJets become damaged (and they DO): it usually means a trip back to the factory.

mike early -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (7/22/2011 2:06 PM)

I've owned 4 sets of CJ retracts. A steep learning curve. But now I can fix them no matter the problem.

skillet92 -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (7/22/2011 4:37 PM)

Mike don't know how much building you have done. But calling the ESM an arf in misleading. I have a TF mustang arf and the ESM Corsair 74" model. And I can promise you that the esm was not arf like compared to the TF. Now in saying that. I loved the ESM and powered it with a IE converted G-38. I sadly lost it about 3 weeks agoto interference from the ignition. I am going to build another one around a evo 35gt. Has the weight and power. For the money from what I have seen I would go with the esm model. Bigger and flys awesome. Good luck. One other bit of advice, think about another engine if you go with the esm. The dle 30 will power it fine but is no where near heavy enough. My g-38 eeighted 59 ozs and I still required 29 ozs of lead up front.

Kostas1 -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (8/8/2011 7:15 AM)

I like the retracts!

CorsairJock -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (8/21/2011 12:19 AM)

Top Flite has now posted ads for it in Model Aviation (AMA magazine), MAYBE release time is getting close?

Which, sir?

mike early -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (8/21/2011 3:04 AM)

Not sure how much the P40 cost when released, but it's 299 now. This one will come down as well. But some will pay 399 right now and put it on backorder and not regret it for a second. Cool plane.

mike early -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (8/21/2011 3:07 AM)

There's a Byron at the field that has front gear doors that are driven up by the wind. Just a thin piece of fiberglass with a Robart hinge in front of the gear. When the gear comes down, they push the doors forward. Simple and works great.

CorsairJock -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (9/6/2011 1:08 PM)

Tower has a spare parts listing now, OUCH! I was wanting to buy a just a wing set: $245!

On the plus side" it is a 3 piece set, which leads to some thoughts on the possibility of making them folding, or at least removable with the option of re-installing in folded position.

Here is link to spare parts:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p?&I=TOPA0951&P=Z

and here is pic of the complete wing set:

Yeh, I noticed that too. Possible for me to have bashed version flying before anyone else recieves the whole kit (ARF)?

handyman 220 -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (9/7/2011 12:09 AM)

Hey, there's an idea. Then you can give us a true flight report before the mags give us their unbiased version. [&:]

Kostas1 -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (9/7/2011 5:22 AM)

Maybe they will correct it, once they'll notice it;

patniven -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (10/1/2011 12:14 PM)

Anyone notice the banner ad 'Featured Products' on the Top Flite homepage?  Maybe the Ad Agency slipped-up...or maybe this one is in the works?  They're showing a giant scale F4U ARF...
Can't post pics for some reason...check out the website:

CorsairJock -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (10/1/2011 12:55 PM)

Got it. Good catch, that is news to me. Still waiting for the .60 size tho, I want to be the first to bash one. Still got one of Luke's F4U-1 canopies, and it looking for a good home.

mwunsworth -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (10/1/2011 1:07 PM)

Very interesting. I was able to get a screen shot of it.

oriole -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (10/1/2011 1:32 PM)

Well it's about time TF or H9 came out with a Giant Scale Corsair ARF!

MANFRED -> RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!! (10/1/2011 3:14 PM)

There has been rumors of this GS arf for years. If they do come out with this it may outsell every other one they have done in GS.

I want to finally see you use one of my nice cockpits I gave you as well, why you saving them!?

A folding wing would be an option, especially one that is for display and transport, fold it down and lock it with a screw or latch mechanism.
