I'm building a Jerry's Big Boy that will have split ailerons using 4 servos and 1 servo ea on the elev, rudder, throttle. I plan to set this up with flaps, airbrake and a crow mix.

I want to match up all the aileron servos for full length aileron control when not using the crow or flap mix. What is the best way to do this?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

What Wing type did you select in your transmitter? This would be the most important part of your setup, getting the closest selection per your aircraft.

Krysta,

It looks like I should use 2-ail - 2-Flap for a wing type using 4 servo's.

With 2 Ailerons and 2 Flaps, "Crow" is easy.  In the Linkage Menu, in the Function section, set  VC1 to Camber.  Put it on the desired control.  Go into the Model Menu and then the Camber Mix.  There, you can adjust how the ailerons, flaps, and elevator will respond when you move the control that's set to Camber.

If you use conditions, you can have the ailerons droop with the flaps in one condition and act as Crow in another condition.  Just set the Camber Mix to "Single" in each condition.

To make the flaps work with the ailerons, giving you full-span ailerons, use the Aileron->Flap mixer.  It will work quite nicely even when you're using the Camber Mix.

Bill,

Thanks for the info. Would you recommend using conditions when using a crow mix, flaps working as ailerons, elev-camber mix and normal flaps?

I would also like to turn on crow mix with a switch and then using the throttle to active it along with setting a rate of mix on throttle position.

Hope this makes sense??? I do appreciate your time and recommendations on how to accomplish this the most efficient way.

Conditions are an excellent solution to setting different transmitter configurations to correspond to different flight regimes.

You can put the Camber Mix to turn on and off with a switch position, and use the throttle stick to operate it.  You're using the throttle stick instead of a knob or slider.  However, you cannot change the amount of mix with the throttle  stick.  You can adjust the curve of the camber mix inside the mixer's AFR setting.  There, you can adjust the curve of the overall mix, and the curves of each of the controls inside the mix.  That may be what you want to do.

Bax.

I have been trying to figure this out. How do I set it up to turn on with a switch and then activate with the throttle?

Thanks

In the Function section of the Linkage Menu, you can set Camber to operate off of a stick, lever, knob, or switch, as you desire.

In the Camber Mix in the Model Menu, you can select a switch that turns the mix on or off.
